The words flowed from my lips as I sat cross-legged on my bed, engrossed in the world of werewolves romance that unfolded before me. The characters and their knitted destinies fascinated me, their stories unrolled with each word that escaped my lips.
The novel in my hands, "Moon's Embrace," by acclaimed author Emily Silverwood, was my sanctuary from reality.
The pages of the novel were alive with passion and danger. My voice resonated through the room as I read aloud, immersing myself in the captivating story.
"His gaze, filled with longing and desire, locked onto hers, their wolf bond pulling them closer with each passing moment,"
I read in a hushed voice, trying to capture the intensity of the scene.
"Their fates interlaced by the moon goddess herself, destined to be mates, fated to share their first shift under the full moon."
I sighed, my heart fluttering at the romantic notions that danced through my mind.
In this werewolf culture, the concepts of bonds, destined mates, and powerful transformations were ordinary.
The pages of the book transported me to a world where Lycans roamed, Alphas ruled with authority, and the moon's glow held mystical powers.
As I delved further into the tale, my mind blurred the lines between reality and fiction.
The world of werewolves became my sanctuary, a respite from the mundane.
The characters breathed life into my daydreams, and I reveled in their forbidden love and thrilling adventures.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Omega Joya, our pack's caretaker, has been at my door since 8.00 am.
I had been engrossed in the enchantment of the story, to the extent that I failed to acknowledge her presence.
It's ten minutes past eight already.
In the pack house, we usually have our breakfast at 7.00 am. But today, I was so captivated by the novel that I hadn't realized time had passed.
"Kate, your breakfast is here," called Joya from the other side of the door.
With no response forthcoming, Joya took it upon herself to enter.
She patiently turned the key handle, opened the door, and stood at the entrance.
Kate, Kate…She sporadically called for my attention.
It was only when she called my name that I finally snapped back to reality.
Startled, I glanced around the room, momentarily disoriented. Joya entered, her warm smile fading into concern.
"Kate, are you alright? You didn't respond to my knocks," Joya said, her voice filled with genuine worry.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Joya," I stammered, realizing my obliviousness.
"I was lost in the book, and I didn't even notice. Thank you for bringing my favorite breakfast."
Joya nodded, placing a tray with a steaming plate of scrambled eggs and toast on my nightstand.
There is a food timetable from Monday to Sunday, so each day, we already knew what we would eat.
Every Friday morning is the day we eat my favorite food, so I never once joke about it.
I might miss any other day, but that day, I was the first person that would be seated at the Alpha dining table before anyone else, buzzing with excitement, making jokes, and entertaining others as they joined me.
Joya knew it, that's why she was worried.
"Kate, why didn't you come for breakfast," Joya asked, her voice filled with genuine concern.
"We miss having you around the pack. It's not the same without your laughter and contagious spirit."
I sighed, a pang of guilt tugging at my heart. "I know, Joya. It's just... this book, these characters. They transport me to a world where everything is extraordinary. I have lost myself in it."
Joya's eyes softened, and she perched on the edge of my bed.
"I understand, Kate. Escaping reality is tempting, but remember, you have your extraordinary journey. You're destined for greatness, like a true Luna of an Alpha."
Joya was the only one who knew that I had a crush on Prince Caleb. Everybody else thought we were just friends, even my mother.
Who won't crush on him? Besides being an heir, the soon-to-be king of the great Amazonia, Prince Caleb Sinclair has an aura that exuded an irresistible charm, a mischievous twinkle that melted one's heart with its sheer cuteness.
He's a darling of every she-wolf in Amazonia.
Relishing how we met up.
I was 10 years old when I first met Prince Caleb Sinclair at the Annual Alpha meetings held at the prestigious Amazonian Pack conference center.
.
I went with my aunt's husband, Alpha Robert Joseph, the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack.
I was having a bad day, I needed a new breath and he requested I join him.
His father, Alpha King Arthur Sinclair was also in attendance. As usual, he came with his father too.
It was at the conference that our paths crossed, then fate brought us together, and we discovered we shared twin similarities.
We were the same age, born the same year, sharing the same birth date, the 25th of December. So, it's easy to strike a connection, and since then, we've been inseparable.
Prince Caleb has everything I wanted in a mate, and he's always happy whenever we're together. Raising my hope of being his fated mate, his luna, the queen of Amazonia.
Though it still needs to be cemented by the moon goddess herself on the day of our first shift, the day we will both turn 20.
The day I've been anxiously waiting for.
I can't wait for the day to arrive.
Joya has often used this to persuade me, knowing how much I longed for that day.
I reached out and grasped Joya's hand, feeling the warmth of her touch.
"Thank you, Joya," I whispered. "You've always been there for me, ever since I came to Amazonia with my mother. I don't know what I would do without you."
Omega Joya smiled, her eyes shining with gratitude.
Joya had been there for me through thick and thin, guiding me through the complexities of the werewolf culture in Amazonian which is quite different from the one that was practiced in Aregona where I was born.
Omega Joya was not the only servant in the pack house, but she was the only one we took as family.
We had always shared a moment of quiet understanding, the bond between us was strengthened by our shared experiences and unwavering loyalty.
"Don't mention it" she muttered "You and your mother are family to me, Kate. I promised you and your mother that I would protect you, and I intend to keep that promise."
I smiled gratefully, appreciating her kindness, "It's my pleasure, Kate. Enjoy your meal." Joya responded as she left the room, closing the door behind her.
Omega Joya was more than a servant to me; she was a friend, a caretaker, and someone I so much admired.
Her past was shrouded in tragedy.
She had once been a princess, but her life turned upside down when her parents, an Alpha, and a Luna, were tragically killed during a rival pack's invasion.
Joya and other pack members were taken as slaves and sold to distant territories.
Despite her hardships, she had blossomed into a caring and compassionate she-wolf, always putting others before herself.
Joya's resilience and genuine kindness touched my heart from the moment we arrived in Amazonia.
When my mother, Hannah, and I had sought refuge here, Joya had been instrumental in helping us settle down quickly.
She had cared for me like a sister, shielding me from the burden of my upbringing and tending to me during my sickest moments.
I often marveled at her strength, both physically and emotionally, as she carried herself with grace and compassion.
Omega Joya's devotion to our pack was unparalleled, and I could feel a deep connection with her.
Her presence in my life was a beacon of hope and comfort, like a guiding light amidst the darkness.
In the werewolf culture, we shared in Amazonia, the bonds formed among pack members were unbreakable.
The fates knitted us with a wolf bond, and each individual had a unique role to play. From the Omega who maintained the pack community to Gamma who ensured our safety to the Beta who offered guidance, and finally, the Alpha who commanded the whole pack, we were a tightly-knit family.
I closed my book, placing a bookmark between the pages before setting it down on the nightstand.
The story would have to wait; nature was calling. I stretched my arms above my head, feeling a slight ache from sitting for too long.
Glancing at the clock, I realized it was time to start my day.
I made my way to the restroom, splashing cold water on my face to shake off the remnants of sleep.
The mirror reflected a tired but determined face at me. I grabbed my toothbrush, stood in front of the sink, and started brushing my teeth.
Once I finished brushing, I glanced at the mirror, adjusted my hair, tidied up my appearance, and ran a comb through my tousled brown locks ensuring it fell just the way I liked it.
I emerged from the bathroom, and smiled gratefully, as I took a seat at the small table beside the nightstand. I descended on the delicious breakfast.
After finishing my meal, I headed downstairs. to greet aunty Rose. I know by that time, her husband would have gone to work.
The familiar scent of freshly brewed coffee greeted me in the kitchen, and I found Aunty Rose, my mother's elder sister, hastily preparing her cup.
She was a vibrant woman, with fiery red hair and a perpetual air of efficiency.
Since I had known Aunty Rose, she can't do without drinking a cup of coffee every morning.
She argued that coffee is an anti-aging substance, and it's been effective in boosting her energy level and increasing her body metabolism.
Which is true anyway.
"Good morning, Aunty Rose, I greeted her as I reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Good morning, Kate, how was night" she responded,
"It's fine ma" I said
She was already late for work, and her boss wouldn't let her escape without a query.
"Aunt Rose, you're running late again," I called out as I stood at the entrance of the kitchen.
She turned, her eyes filled with worry. "Oh, Kate, I know! My boss will have my head for sure. My husband, and your mother, have already left for work. They'll be disappointed I couldn't finish my breakfast."
I nodded sympathetically. I know what she meant. Alpha Robert strongly detests the waste of food. He won't take it easy with her if he should get wind of it. Likewise my mother.
She dropped the cup of coffee on the sink and was about to take her leave when she noticed how my face looked haggard and haggish.
"What happened to you?" she asked with a hint of concern in her voice as she stared into my eyes. "You look tired. Studying until the wee hours again?"
I chuckled, rubbing my temples. "Guilty as charged, Aunty Rose. I just finished my final Medical exam, so the sleepless nights are taking their toll.
I'm anxiously awaiting the results, hoping to join the ranks of medical doctors soon."
Aunty Rose paused, her eyes filled with genuine pride. "I have no doubt you'll achieve great things, my dear.
"I'm really proud of you.
"Your resilience and intelligence will take you far. But for now, take a break. Rest those weary bones." She advised.
I thanked her gratefully, grateful for her understanding. The support my mother and I received from Aunty Rose and her husband, Alpha Robert Joseph, had been a lifeline ever since my father disowned and banished us from his palace in Aregona.
As I made my way back upstairs to my room, thoughts of the werewolf culture and the intricate dynamics between packs filled my mind.
I yearned to continue my captivating story, to learn more about the secrets hidden within the wolf bond and the fated mate connection.
But for now, my weary mind required respite. I curled up on my bed, the warmth of the morning sun embracing me like a comforting blanket.
I closed my eyes, promising myself that once I had rested, I would continue my novel and dive back into the enchanting world of werewolves and their wild existence.
