CHAPTER 9
"Ricky, damn it, slow down!" Derk yelled as he chased after his mate.
His mate seemed to speed up as he yelled, "Just go play your stupid game and leave me alone."
Derk could feel his bear coming forward as his mate rushed away.
It was never good to run from a bear, everyone knew that, but it seemed his mate forgot, because he yelled, "Leave me alone,” and took off.
The shift happened suddenly and without thought. One second it was Derk trying to talk to his mate, the next it was his bear chasing his mate.
Letting out a roar of warning for Ricky to stop only made his mate turn, gasp, and take off once again, even faster.
Derk felt his bear picking up speed. Most people didn't realize that a grizzly could gain speed up to about thirty-five miles per hour.
