"ALEX? Are you dressed already?"
Alexandria was brought back to the present after hearing a voice of a woman. After a few moments, her aunt Cecilia went inside her bedroom.
She was puzzled when her aunt Cecilia left the door open, which she does not usually do when she wakes her up. Because after making sure she is awake, her aunt does not leave immediately and would still open her curtains and keep her bed tidy.
"Why are you still not dressed? Your visitor is already downstairs and you're still here daydreaming" her aunt said.
"Who is it, auntie?" she asked.
Before her aunt could even reply to her, her cousin has suddenly appeared inside her room.
"Gidget!" she exclaimed. Very surprised of her cousin's sudden appearance since it been weeks since she last saw her.
She immediately got up from her bed and run to where her cousin is at and hugged her.
"You act like it's been decades since we last saw each other!" her cousin said while giggling.
She giggled also, "Of course! Because you're my favorite cousin, isn't it right Gidge?"
Gidget was the closest to her age among her cousins that is why growing up, it's been always the two of them who's always together. They're were each other's best friends and partner in crime.
"Shhhh! Valerie and Beatrice might hear you. They'll get upset" she joked.
They both laughed. Valerie was 5 years ahead of them and she is the kindest. She's like the elder sister they both never had since they're both the only daughters. Valerie and Beatrice are as close as Gidget and her. But they're the opposite, while Gidget and I are at the same age, Valerie is the oldest and Beatrice is the youngest. But that didn't become a hindrance for them to not become the closest. Just like us, it's the both of them who understand each other well.
"Before I forget, why are your luggage with you?"
"Uhhh, you know Alex, I didn't really come here to attend your mom's birthday party. I actually have forgotten about it. I was wondering whether I could stay here for a while, maybe for just a few days. Until I could finally find somewhere to settle in."
"What happened to your condo?"
Gidget let out a deep breath. "My brother wants to renovate and redecorate the whole interior of our condo so that it will be more presentable whenever there are press who's going to have his interviews and such. And you know that I would rather not be involved with those things. I prefer to just be alone, chilling, while drinking coffee or whatsoever as long as I could have a peaceful environment. And for sure if those press saw me living with my brother they would include me in their articles and my private life would be ruined. And you know him, he always drag me to wherever his pictorials and photo shoots are and it's difficult to say no since we're living in the same roof."
"I know, you really like your own personal space and you're a very private person ever since. But your brother is the opposite."
"Right." She said. "That is why I decided that I want to have my own place where I can live peacefully and away from press. I know I won't be able to act freely knowing that there are eyes following me everywhere I go once they knew about me."
"Why don't you stay where your brother is currently staying then?"
"If I did then he would still try to convince me to stay, so to escape further questions and persuasions from him I decided to just stay here while I'm still looking for a place I would like to settle in."
"You can settle in here if you want. I'm sure mom would be glad if you stay longer, even dad."
"No, I'd rather have my own place. You know that I have always wanted to be independent."
"Fine. I won't force you if you have decided already. But we need to change now and go downstairs for breakfast. And don't tell mom that you have forgotten about her birthday because she will get upset, okay?"
"Yeah."
THE PARTY WAS THEMED as formal and Gidget has only jeans and blouse with her so Alexandria lent her an evening gown.
"Gidget! The gown looks so good on you!"
Gidge and I got startled, we turned to where that voice came from and it was her mom Lucille.
"Aunt Lucille..." Gidget went near Lucille and hugged her. "Happy Birthday to you Aunt Lucile!"
"Thank you hija, come get yourselves a table. The other guests will be arriving soon. And guess what?"
"What is it Aunt Lucille?"
"Alita is also coming together with Matthew." Lucille's a mischievous smile is clearly written on her face.
"Mom, are you playing as a cupid for them?" she asked while raising an eyebrow.
"Oh no sweety." Said Lucille while shaking her head. "I didn’t have to do that since the real cupid made its way on them."
Both our eyes went big after hearing that. "You mean, they're tohether already?"
"Well that's what I'm going to figure out tonight." Then she winked at us and left
We both stared at each other.
"What do you think, Gidge? After Dianne, will it be Alita who's next to get married? Then that would mean it will be the three of us left unmarried."
"And will stay that way until the day we decide to get tied down!" and we both giggled together.
THE PARTY HAS STARTED. And one of the early birds were Alita and Matthew. Alexandria happily approached them.
"Alita!" she exclaimed.
"Oh Alex!" Alita walked towards her and kissed her cousin in the cheeks.
Alexandria took her cousin on a corner for a little interrogation.
"Are you and Mathew together already?"
Alita is on the verge of laughing while staring at Alexandria. "Don't you deny it Alita! I saw you both when you entered, you were holding each other's hands." I exclaimed.
"Seriously? You even noticed that?" she said laughing.
"So? Are you?"
"Uhhh, yes! Since yesterday."
Alexandria's eye went big while her mouth is slightly open. And they both laughed.
