CHAPTER 5~~CONFRONTING HIM~~

~~DEONISIA~~ ____________________ I was more than glad when Dr. Claude announced my discharge this morning, and it's been four days after since I regained consciousness.  The pain has been there, but it's slowing dissipating and I am glad that I won't need to bend while walking. I stepped outside the infirmary, breathing in the fresh air for a moment before opening my eyes and I scanned the open space.  "What are you looking for?" Goldie asked, looking at me with skepticism, even my younger brothers had a worried look on their faces.  "The palanquin or chariot you brought to take me back to the palace." I respond keeping a straight face and Goldie made a gesture with her finger pointed to her head while she waved it, a way to ask if I am crazy.  "Why do you need a palanquin big sis?" Leroy, the older of my twin brother, asked, and I pointed to Goldie.  "Ley, we should ask the princess since she brought half the palace to collect me from the infirmary. I thought she came with a royal palanquin as well." I replied with a gesture towards the palace guards that flanked each of our sides, and Goldie smacked my behind.  "Thank goddess you are sick, that smacked would have fitted your head very well. I didn't bring they followed me." Goldie responds, saying the last part with an irritated whine as she glared at the palace guards who paid us no mind.  "I am not sick. Anyway, where is our ride?" I questioned, walking away from the door, to get a momentary feel from the heat of the sun. That infirmary room almost felt like a cage for me, just laying on that bed doing nothing, nor glimpsed at the sun.  "Over there, missy." Goldie, says grabbing my hand as she pulled me to the direction where they parked the jeep.   The short ride back to the palace wasn't as silent as I expected. My brothers, Goldie and I, talked all the way back. Apparently, the sharped mouth, Goldie, told them why I fainted and they wanted to know how I felt about the whole situation.  They are thirteen-year-olds, but sometimes they behave like they are eighteen and I know it's because they are higher ranked wolves, still I see them as my little ones.  Goldie also filled me in on the happenings in the palace except one thing, which I noticed immediately we got down from the jeep. The palace compound was bursting with life. The palace yard allocated for ceremonies had guards and servants moving up and down as they set up tents. My eyes kept wandering around even as we tried avoiding the bustling servants in other not to knock down the items in their hands.  The main entrance to the Alpha king mansion was wide open, which only happens on special occasions.  ~What's going on? ~ Alora asked, speaking up for the first time since I woke up in the hospital. Although I was mad that she left me to my device, I also understand how much pain she must be in. Because compared to mine, her pain would be severe. I am the human and she is the wolf; we feel things differently more intense than the other, despite sharing the same body vessel.  ~I have no, idea. How are you feeling? ~ I asked, as I followed behind, Goldie and my brothers, stepping into the palace building and my eyes welcomed the flowery decorations all hanging down from the ceilings.  Even the chairs in the common living room were all brand new? Are they expecting important visitors because this seems too grand for just any occasion? ~It still hurts knowing he chose someone else over us, but I'll be fine. I feel less pain compared to that day, so I'll say it's a growing process. Sorry for leaving you to bear things alone, I just needed to heal my own way. I couldn't have stayed sane if I stayed present to witness other things through your eyes.~ I sighed at Alora's words because I fully understand where she is coming from. I've heard stories of wolves who go rogue after rejection. As a vessel for them, I have little control over things like this and if my wolf isn't strong enough, her madness would get to me and that might cause us to go completely rogue.  ~It's fine Lora, I understand you. If you have to stay locked away a little more, please do, I'll handle things for now, until you're okay. I need your strength to power through what the future holds for us. So take your time.~ I watched through the channel in my mind as Alora sighed, resting her head on her paws, and I smiled at her. She will be fine, we will get through this.  My brothers excused themselves to do something, and I didn't get the last part of their sentence, but I nod. Goldie and I walked out of the common room, climbing the stairs that lead to the family living room, and I stopped her to curb my curiosity. "What's going on, with all the decorations and bustling, is the king expecting visitors?" Goldie's face widen at my question and she made an oh sound as she stomp her feet on the ground. "Goodness, I forgot to tell you, how silly of me. So the prince found his mate." Goldie says with delight, and I frowned as my heart jumped.  "Uh, which of the princes?" I asked, my voice coming out lower than I wanted it to be, as I hoped Hadrian didn't slip up and tell his parents that we were mates and they were forcing us to be together.  "Prince Hadrian of course." Goldie says bouncing on her feet and my mouth formed an oh shaped.  "Oh, I see. Congratulations to him."  "Oh my god, you need to see her Isia, she is so pretty, and she is an Alpha, mom and dad were so happy about that one factor and she is the daughter of the Head Alpha of north-east sector. Dad said their park is the second strongest amongst the provincial sector." I listened with a certain pain in my heart as Goldie went on and on about Hadrian's new month and how the Alpha king family already adores her because she is an Alpha.  And I realized they wouldn't have been this enthusiastic if they discovered I was their son's mate, I am not an Alpha wolf, neither am I the daughter of a head Alpha. To them, I would be a weak link to their prestigious name and family.  "That's really cool." I respond, hiding the pain in my voice, because no matter how hard I try to pretend, I still cannot let go of the reality before me.   "Yes, I am geniunely happy for him, he waited so long for this. They met for the first time that day when the envoy's from the eastern province came. She came with them and they found out they were mates. Can you imagine my brother marked her immedaitely, didn't even wait to inform dad and mom until later." "He must have really wanted to meet his forever." I added, and Alora whimpered, retreating to the back of my mind and I blocked her out from all this. "I guess so, they are holding their mating ceremony today, and I heard she would move into the palace thereafter. I can't wait to meet my mate soon, I am already eighteen and a beta wolf, why is it taking so long, my wolf blossomed when I was sixteen."  Goldie mentioned, pursing out her lip as her forehead creased and I sighed, despite going through my s**t, I still have to comfort her as a friend. "You would definitely meet him when the right time comes, perhaps he is not in the capital." I said to her, rubbing her back to comfort her, and she nods, smiling as she got rid of the crease.  "You are right." "Does that mean Hadrian would become king soon?" I asked, because if that's the case, I have to prepare myself for the inevitable. There is no giving that Hadrian won't throw me out of the palace the first chance he gets.  "What? No, don't you know it's tradition that the crown prince has an heir before he becomes king? It's a way to assure that passing the throne to him won't be the end of the bloodline on the throne. I think preparation of his coronation would begin once his mate conceives."  I listened to Goldie's explanation, releasing a sigh of relief with the newly found knowledge. At least that would buy me enough time before he becomes king. "Okay, I uh don't feel too good, can I relax in my room for a while?" I tell Goldie, no that I needed permission, but I know she would probably want to drag me around the palace or make me see Hadrian's mate. Truth be told, I don't want to meet her.  "Alright, I'll come get you once the ceremony starts." Goldie says, and I nod, waving as I turned the hallway that leads to my room. Do I want to attend the ceremony? Hadrian for sure wouldn't want me there and I don't want to go either. I guess I'll just pretend to be asleep whenever Goldie comes to collect me.  I suck in a deep breath as I reached the door of my room, grabbing the doorknob to open the door, when I felt a hand above mine, pushing the door opened and equally pushing me into the room.  My back meet with the wall just as the door slammed shut, and I met with the face of a scowling Hadrian, caging me between his big build and the wall, with my hands pinned above my head. "What is that stupid stunt you pulled Uh? Fainting the day I found my second chance, mate, did you think I would come to you or what?" Hadrian asked, snorting, and I rolled my eyes "Oh please, I care less about you and whatever you think. I should ask you what stunt you think this is, barging into my room like that." Hadrian's face morphed into an angry frown at my words, and he snapped his jaw at my face.  "You've got some guts talking to me like that, little omega. Remember, no one is here to stop me from hitting you and sending you back to that infirmary." Hadrian threatened, his fingers trailing dangerously around my neck, and I scoff despite my fear.  "And is that supposed to scare me? You threatening to beat me up? That's the worse you can do Hadrian, you've already had s*x with me, your worse is to beat me up and then what? I might be a little omega, but I will leave permanent scars on your body. Let me see how you'll explain to your new mate how you got fresh, claw marks on your face and body." Hadrian's growl shook the door to its hinge, and I gulped, knowing I had overstepped my bounds. Disrespecting an alpha isn't something the kingdom takes lightly, especially from a low ranked omega, but I also know the worse Hadrian would do is grovel and snarl. He definitely can't take this to the king, what would he say he wanted in my room?  "How dare you? Don't think because the king and the foolish queen loves you, that gives you leverage to disrespect us." His eyes had changed from its cold brown to a flaming red and I knew without that his wolf had surfaced.  The authority in his alpha voice, caused Alora to whimper and cower away in my mind, but I stood my ground. The earlier I stand up to this asshole, the easier it would be for me to deal with his selfish ass in this palace until I move. "You don't scare me, Amaruq, and I know you can't kill me either. I still don't know why you're in my room. You rejected me alright, and I accepted, so what is this you're doing in my room? Or do you suddenly regret your rejection? I prayed you get a second chance mate, and the goddess granted my prayers, that's enough to show you I want nothing to do with you and your human. Stop making a fool out of yourselves and leave, I am sure your second option is waiting for you." I said too much, I know, but I had to show him I don't fear him, even if I am scared to bone right now. I can't let him see that because he would exploit my fear, use it against me and make me his wimp.  "Oh the nerves, when did you become so bold and a little spitfire. Just three weeks ago, you stuttered when saying my name. Suddenly you're forming badass." Hadrian had pushed forth, and he smirked as he whispered the words in my ear. True the action made me shiver, but I can't let him see he affects me this way, he would think so highly of himself. "Since you rejected me." I respond and his smirk grew, coupled with a s**t-eating grin that danced around his face and I scoffed. "Is that the answer you expected, your highness? Please don't flatter yourself, you know I've always held my own in verbal exchange. Besides few weeks ago, blame whatever happened on the stupid mate bond and of course my inexperience in adult stuffs. Perhaps you don't know this, your highness, nothing about your existence appeals to me, for a while my judgement and feelings got overshadowed by the mate bond. Thanks to your rejection, I can see clearer now and I'm reminded why I never liked you." Anger floated in the air as Hadrian let loose, his pheromones and I knew I had successfully hit a button. His stupid ego can go to hell for all I care. "You little runt." Hadrian snarled, as his fangs push through his gum and his fingers circle my throat, but I didn't wait for him to strangle me, as I raised my knee, kneading him real hard in his groins and his hold around my neck loosened.  A painful growl split out of his throat as I rushed away from him, going through the drawer by my night stand I pulled out a spray bottle, pointing it towards him as he turned to me with a death glare.  "I am going to kill you." Amaruq bellowed, pushing to the surface again, while he palmed his wounded crotch and I smiled, pressing my hand firmly on the head of the spray.  "Not before I blind you Alpha, remember what this is?" I question, flashing the plastic bottle before his eyes and he snarled, stepping back.  Of course, he would remember, years of him always messing with me gave me reasons to look for how to defend myself. The internet is definitely a useful tool, days and hours of searching for how to hurt an Alpha without beating them up helped me with this formula.  A mixture of liquid wolfsbane and mercury derived toxin. The toxin was hard to find, but I did eventually, after scouting illegal sites. Mixing both substances together helped me with the spray in my hand, one time Hadrian had tried hitting me and I sprayed it on his hand. I didn't know it would work, but the way he had pranced around howling in pain gave me a desired result.. "You stupid bitch." Hadrian snarled, and I smiled at him. I may not have the power to do you great harm, but I won't just let him walk all over me after rejecting me.  "Please use the door, your highness. Thank you for coming to see how I am fairing from your rejection." I spat with malice, pretending to press the spray and Hadrian turning, bolting for the door. The sound of the door slamming shut had me flinching for a second, but I quickly hurried to the door, turning the locked and I slumped against it.  Goddess, that was, intense. I was shaking inside all the time he had me pinned to the wall, but I couldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing me tremble before him.
