Chapter Two

821 Words
After school, we walked it home. Having to go to my dreadful home, I was unhappy again. My friends right away caught on, trying to cheer me up. “Guys, thanks for trying but there is no point now. Have to get this over with before they even come home.” “Are you sure Liz?’ Claire asked. “I’m sure girl. Thanks anyways. Just go home safely ok. Ill be fine. Don’t worry.” They said their goodbyes and left. I turn back around and entered. I started with the daily routine, taking out the trash, making dinner, dust around the house and taking care of the garden and laundry while listening to music. By 6:30pm I was done with the chores. Humming around really do help with focusing doing the chores, not focusing on the time. Suddenly, I hear a car roaring by, slowing down in front till it stopped. Hearing the keys and the door opened. My parents came in, cheery today. I wonder. “Lizzy, honey go get freshen up now, or we are going to be late meeting the Alpha and Luna.” Mother said. I was speechless. Surprised even. Mother never called me Lizzy, and she was never nice to me to start of with. “Stop staring and hurry up now.” Exclaimed father. I don’t ask questions, I know better. I go up to my room and get ready. Something formal, but simple. I chosen an indigo dress that comes up to my knees. Put on my sandals and throw my hair up in a not so messy bun, with a few stray hairs rounding my face. Got to admit, I don’t look bad. I rush downstairs and we all leave together. Once we got to the alpha’s house, which wasn’t even far from home, we met with the Alpha and the Luna. “Good evening Alpha, Luna.” We said bowing down. “Please, come inside, dinner is almost ready. Lets all sit down in the Patio in the meantime. It’s a wonderful day today.” We all followed Luna to the patio they had. It was beautiful, a little pond further down, with a cute fountain in the middle. We all sat down quietly, waiting for either our Alpha or Luna to speak. “So Liz, are you excited for the ceremony next weekend?” Luna asked me. I was shocked for a moment until I felt a nudge from her under the table that I reacted right away. Nervously I nodded. I looked both at my parents, their faces shocked and silent from what the Luna ask me. Silently, I looked back at Luna. She was smiling right at me! What on earth is she thinking?! She, of all people know how they are. They will never allow me to go to the ceremony. But by the looks of it, Luna had other plans for me. “Liz, I saw the perfect outfit for you to wear that day. You will look stunning. The girls already found their dresses today as well. I’ll be hosting a little slumber party for us girls here for a week while Damien will host a boys’ night at the pack house.” “Luna Marie, I don’t think that will be necessary.  Elizabeth doesn’t want to go the ceremony. As a matter of fact, she doesn’t want to find her mate. Right Elizabeth?” my father was staring at me, challenging me to contradict him. I look down at my hands, unsure of how to answer. However, I was saved by Luna once more. “Don’t need to worry about that Diego. The elders requested that this year everyone has to go to the ceremony, no exceptions.” Alpha Damien replied. Father stayed quiet after that, looking rejected. You could never win an argument with Alpha Damien. Whatever he says, it’s the final word.  “Luna Marie, are you sure there is no way to go around this for the sake of Lizzy?” Seems like mother won’t drop it easily. “I’m sorry Lory, but the elders were very specific. If its not followed through, there will be consequences to be dealt with.” Luna exclaimed. Mother wasn’t very happy with her answer. However, she accepted the idea of me going to the ceremony, though you can tell clearly, she did not like the idea one bit. “Excellent. Now, lets have dinner. Liz will be staying here starting tonight, in order to prepare for the ceremony this weekend.” I was beyond relieve I didn’t have to go back home with my parents. Who knows what they would have done or said to me while on my own? “Luna, I still have to get my stuff for the week though.” I said. “Don’t worry honey, I already send some of the pack ladies to retrieve your stuff.” She told me with a sparkle in her eyes. I don’t know, but I believe this is something more than just the ceremony. Guess we will have to wait until then to find out.
