Chapter 17

I look at Elizabeth as she opens the letter. I hug her from the side. She looks at me nervously. She looks back at the letter and starts reading its contents. The more she reads, the shakier she gets. She starts to tremble even more, to the point where she almost drops the letter. As soon as she is done, she breaks down. She hugs me tightly and bawls her eyes out.

“What’s wrong princess? What does it says?” I ask her.

She just gives me the letter to read it.

My dear sweet Elizabeth,

By the time you read this, we are long gone. I just hope that you are now happy and hopefully, with your mate. First thing I want to say, I am so sorry. Sweetheart, this was never supposed to happen. You were supposed to have a beautiful life with us, your real parents. Bet you are questioning yourself, confused. Well, sweetheart, the people who you are with are not your real parents. They used to be our best friends for many years, even before you were born. However, things had changed. They think that we haven’t noticed, but I did. I barely had the time to write you this letter to inform you as soon as you were old enough to understand. I trusted Jax to keep everything that you need to know. He may not have said anything to you in how I know him. Sweetheart, he is my half-brother, your uncle. He has a big role in all of this. But, let me start off how all this came to this point.

You see, Diego and Lory were our best friends since childhood. We were inseparable. We had everything done together. However, one thing I found out during the years of friendship was that Lory was in love with your father, my handsome mate Daniel. She kept it a secret for many years, hoping that he will be his true mate one day. As for Diego, he was not in love with me, no, he was obsessed with me. He would try everything to be close to me, trying to be discreet. Your father would always stay by my side in case Diego would try anything on me. As we grew older, they became more discreet with their feelings. I thought they got over it. If only I had paid more attention back then.

Once we turned 17, your father Daniel and I found out we were mates. We were so happy. We were blinded from everyone else, we just focused on us. I did not know that this would had infuriated Diego and Lory. Like I said, I thought their feelings changed. Since Lory and Diego haven’t found their real mates by the last year of the Chosen ceremony, they settled with each other. I thought we were going to be all so happy and still be friends. Oh, how wrong was I.

After a few years being mated to your father, we had you. We did not wanted to bring you into the world until we were prepared to give you a beautiful life with us. Around the same time, Lory and Diego had their first child. However, that little baby did not last very long. He was very sick all the time. He only lived until he was 2 years old. You two were such great friends. It was around that time that we started to feel off. We didn’t know what was going on. We were getting weak, feeling so drained all the time. With the help of my brother, we realized that Lory was poisoning me. She was trying to get rid of me to me with your father. Only problem was that Diego was doing the same thing to your father, thinking he can be with me after getting rid of him. They didn’t realize what they were doing until it was too late.

One thing they didn’t know when they contacted the wizard, was that he was my brother. He would tell me everything that was going on. That gave us enough time to say our last good bye’s, change our wills, and putting everything under your name instead of theirs. We tried to put you with a very close family member, but it was too late. They took you. They took our precious baby away from us. As soon as they realized the damage they had done, they took my baby away from me. Jax tried to locate them before we leave from this world. Until this day, we have not heard a single thing about them. They know that we had changed the will from theirs to your name. They will do anything in their power to get what is rightfully yours. Don’t worry. Only way for you to access what we left you, is by having your second child with your real mate. This will probably take years, but they don’t need to know that. Our people knows very well about this clause, Lory and Diego don’t. However, you must take care of yourself, be safe and don’t go nowhere alone. Please, for your safety, stay safe.

 I barely have the time and energy to write you this letter. Sweetheart, trust your Uncle Jax. He will do everything in his power to keep you safe.
