CHAPTER# 2

Sitting in the car with her family, Nooreh was anxiously waiting to reach the Khan mansion. She was excited about meeting her best friend Azriel. Azriel and Zayn, being twins, were completely the same in personalities but different in appearances. Azriel was a jolly kid with cute dimples and hazel eyes, whereas Zayn had pitch black eyes with extremely chubby cheeks even at the age of fifteen.

Nooreh had drowsed to sleep as she saw the mountains passing by. They were going to a very secluded place as the Khans were known for their privacy. They lived a bit far from the main city. The car was running fast so she couldn’t really focus on her view. She heard her father shout her name, shouting at her, but she couldn’t blink away from her sleep.

“Nooreh! Nooreh! Wake up!” Fawaz Khan was screaming at the top of his lungs to wake his daughter up.

Nooreh jerked when she heard her father screaming like that. Never in her life had she heard her father screaming like that.

“Daddy? What happened?” Nooreh asked her father, unable to comprehend the situation. She saw her mother’s tear-streaked face. Nine-year-old Nooreh was wise enough to know that something was wrong. Terribly.

“Nooreh… baby when I tell you to jump you have to jump out of the car, okay?”

"Daddy, but why?" Nooreh couldn't understand why her father was asking her to do such a thing.

"Nooreh, there is no time for me to answer that honey, you have to jump, your mama will jump next.” Her father had nearly completed his sentence when Arminah had screamed.

"No! Fawaz, I won't leave you here. You will jump with me. I don’t care you have to jump with me plz." Arminah begged.

"Honey plz there is no time for this, you guys have to jump. The breaks have failed and in this situation, I can't risk anything please."

"No, I will not. I will not leave you alone. We will jump together." Arminah screamed again.

Nooreh was a child and she couldn’t fathom the situation, hence she was very scared. She had never seen her parents argue like this.

While Arminah and Fawaz were arguing, they couldn’t see a troller coming their way. Their attention was diverted towards it when Nooreh screamed.

" Arminah Nooreh jump!" Her father had commanded and Nooreh had obeyed.

Jumping from a fast-moving car resulted in falling hard for Nooreh. Due to its intensity, Nooreh had lost her balance and she had rolled down a distance. Nooreh had gotten scratched badly but she couldn’t care less. She got off the ground to go to her mother but she couldn’t see her. Had her mother not jumped together with her?

Nooreh ran forward to find her mother but she couldn’t. she ran some more to find her, only to see a huge crowd of people around a car. Nooreh walked slowly towards it.

She could see people trying to take out two bloodied bodies but that couldn’t be her parents, right? They had jumped. They said that they would. That couldn’t be possible. When Nooreh saw her mother’s heavily bloodied unconscious body, she couldn’t bear it and succumbed to the darkness.
