After my mother had given me my gift and my mind made up about my plans to deter this engagement. I fell fast asleep after I had my evening bath and read my favorite novel.
The next day I woke up to a bright sky and a handsome man beside me. He was gorgeous with brown hair, blue eyes, and lips that made them impossible not to desire a kiss. I leaned on my elbows trying to get a good look at his features. The hair laying lightly against his face, his rose-colored cheeks, and the peaceful slumber upon his eyes. Everything was perfect on his face until he woke up. I was a little afraid that he caught me just staring at him like a total creep. He and I both sat up at the same time embarrassment written on my face.
"You are so beautiful as gorgeous as the first Spring day," he said with a caress of my cheek with his hand.
"You have to be one of the most handsome men I have ever met, your eyes just draw me in and I can't escape, your smile is what makes mine," I said nearly out of breath as if I had been holding it this whole time.
He tipped my chin closer to his face as if he would have kissed me. "Harmony," he said my name as if it were a hymn.
I wanted him to kiss me, I would have begged him to. His lips were so close to mine. He looked into my eyes and with one swift movement turned his head to the side and kissed me. It was slow and overwhelming all my senses heightened. My eyes shut and all I could think about was how perfect his lips synced to mine. I leaned away breaking the kiss to catch my breath and to touch my lips. I loved how soft my lips felt after kissing him for what seemed like hours. After I caught my breath he pulled me on top of him. I straddled his hips my legs bent on either side of his legs. I leaned down my breast pressed against his firm chest. He grabbed the back of my neck, deepening the kiss, my tongue dancing with his to a silent song. This unknown man awoke my inner queen. I began unbuttoning his shirt my fingers struggling to grip the small buttons, I wasn't sure what had come over me but, I liked where this was headed, my nervousness making my breath quicken. In the blink of an eye, he flipped me on my back and whispered in my ear, "when you are alone with me I am king, this is where I am in charge."
Closing my eyes and listening to his words a soft moan escaped my lips, he began lifting my skirt up exposing my thighs, and continued traveling higher to my undergarment. He bent down and began to kiss my thighs and small moans coming from above him. He pulled my underwear down my legs and threw them to the side. My moans becoming gasps and my back arching to meet his touch. He continued kissing my inner thigh not giving me what I so desperately craved.
I closed my eyes and said, "please, don't tease me anymore I want you so badly."
He smiled raising his head from in between my thighs and said, "I'm not teasing you but, I hate when this happens."
"Your Highness, your highness." I heard a loud knock on my door. I shot up out of bed realizing that I had woken up from a dream; a very good dream. I read plenty of romance novels to know the best part was coming and Kat ruined it. Totally going to kill her.
"Come in," I said with anger in my tone.
"This better be good because, I was in a fantastic dream that I didn't want to end," I said looking at Katheryn as she came in with my breakfast and leading Mirabella in behind her.
"Oh, shut up and get ready, you can finish your wet dream later," she said smiling with a mischievous smile. "Oh, and Happy Birthday," she said handing me a slice of toast.
"Happy Birthday, Harmony," said Mirabella with excitement. She sat next to me handing me a gift. "Open it, it's from both of us"
I quickly unwrapped the gift box and a bottle rolled out. "What is this?" I said curiously turning the bottle to view the label.
"Your first drink. It's a wine from your birth year," she said smiling.
I smiled and said, "this is perfect, now go get three wine glasses, so we may enjoy it together."
Katheryn came back with three wine glasses and filled them all half-way. "To another year older, and a life of happiness to Harmony," said Katheryn raise=ing her glass to a toast.
"Cheers," we all said in unison.
As the alcohol ran down my throat with a bitter, yet sweet taste. I began thinking about everything that was to be done today. After all, it is my 18th birthday and I definitely needed to start the day with a drink.
I began getting dressed for the celebration in the rose gold dress with a gold bodice lined with rose gold sequins in the shape of roses on the bodice. The royal tailor had designed it just for this special day and with my taste in mind. My hair is pinned up in curls completely off the nape of my neck rose gold flecks sparkle throughout my hair, my makeup was done lightly to cover my imperfections but to reveal my true beauty. I brushed my hands down the fabric ensuring no snares in the fabric. I hold my head up high as I've done for most of my life and I look at my reflection in the mirror and see the woman I have become. Kat placed my tiara on my head as I turned around.
“Your crown Harmony, you look beautiful, and don’t you forget it.” She said as I walked past her towards the ballroom.
We, three girls, were waiting at the ballroom doors. I would go in first then my two handmaidens. I turned around and looked at the two of them. We smiled and hugged. Kat slapped my ass and said, “you got this, go steal the show.” Laughing with them, I closed my eyes taking in a much-needed breath, and nodded to the guard to open the double doors for my entrance to the party. A piece of certain music began playing and that was my entry song. A trumpet sounding making the music pause and as I began my cascade down our grand staircase, I looked upon the crowd of eyes looking at me and caught a pair that intrigued my interest, blue with a sparkle of green reminding me of the river that surrounds my favorite garden. The announcer announced my full name and the royal title "Harmonia Annaliese Princess of Asconia."
Everyone bowed to me and in return, I curtsied. My father was to have the first dance, he came to collect me from the bottom of the stairs and took my hand, leading me to the center of the room. My father knows my heart and what I want and I so hoped he would gift me my heart's desire on my birthday.
"My little girl is all grown up, she's 18, will be married soon, and then soon after that, I will be a grandfather. Life is so short," he said with a sigh. “I never would have thought you would grow up so quickly otherwise I would have stopped it.
"Dad, I'm still your little girl, I'll just have a bigger crown. I'm not exactly too excited for my marriage to Ammar yet either, but mother insists, and I think I can wait a bit on kids and even the king of Asconia can’t stop a woman from growing up, I mean of course not without the queen's permission." I said laughing. He gave a chuckle too.
"My little Harmony, you know I want what is best for our country but I also want what is best for you," he said just as the song ended and he kissed the top of my head.
The Announcer yelled, "Princess Harmonia, will now dance with Prince Ammar of Persia."
I looked around with shock waiting to see him. He came up between my mother and grandmother. My mother put her hands together and mouthed to me SURPRISE, with a smile on her face. I stood there shocked not knowing what to do or how I felt.
Ammar approached me and bowed "May I have this dance." he said with an accent.
I curtsied and said "yes." Because what the f**k else was I going to say? I was internally panicking.
"I know it's strange me being here but I couldn't wait any longer, not knowing my bride to be. I figured the first dance should be in your court," he said kindly.
I smiled, "Well that is very considerate of you Ammar, unfortunately, I can't begin to tell you my shock that you came all the way here." I said.
“Tell me Princess Harmony, what is your hearts desire?” He said in a whisper next to my ear.
“You want my honest answer or the one I have been groomed to say my entire life?” I asked.
“Well Harmony, what is marriage without honesty?” He said twirling me out and back towards him.
“I am not ready to marry, I want love and burning passion for the man I choose.” I said slightly holding my breath hoping he wouldn’t freak out.
“Harmony, I will be honest you are much more beautiful in person, and now that I can match a physical face with written letters, I couldn’t agree more with you. I want you to know I will be anything you need me to be and I will wait for you if need be. I only want your happiness. I want you to be real with me always. No false faces.” He said resting his cheek against my temple.
We finished our dance without any more words. “Thank you Ammar, and I bowed and began to walk away. I needed som air and began walking towards the garden. My secret garden, to cry, to scream, to think, and to even breathe.
I left the ballroom in a haste. I just couldn't bear being so close to him after he said those things, it made him even more attractive to me and made me want to believe him and go through with he arrangement. He was attractive sure, but this marriage was not on my terms. I was not in love, I was not ready for this marriage. I felt my fists and anger build. I walked into the garden pushing the door open and it automatically shutting behind me. The roses were red and white with garden lights and the water running in the fountain. I sat down on the swing that my father had built for me. I needed to clear my head and to relax. I closed my eyes and silently prayed. During my prayer, I heard the brush of trees where the entrance was. I stood up and turned around to see the eyes I had noticed earlier that evening.
"Good evening your highness, I don't mean to intrude your thoughts," he said
I raised an eyebrow, "but here you are intruding my thoughts," I said in a snap.
"My name is Allister, and I mean no harm." he said
"Allister, only the family and certain friends know of this place, how did you get in here." I said taking my seat on the swing again.
"I seen you leave the ballroom and followed you to make sure you were alright, you left in such a hurry." he said while walking towards me. He reached me and began pushing me on the swing.
"Allister, do you ever wish you were a commoner?" I said with curiosity, it was an odd and forward question.
"Harmonia, I do often wonder, but then I wouldn’t have this amazing life and be here with you in this moment" he said pushing me again.
"Can I tell you something personal?" I said with a deep breath.
"Of course your highness, I can be your confidant," he said proudly.
"I am supposed to marry a prince that I do not know. I want to rule on my own and when I fall in love then marry. When I marry I want a passion that consumes me, a love that makes me truly believe in fairytales." I said with passion in my voice and tears in my eyes.
"Harmonia, I do not believe in soulmates but, I do believe in passion and that comes with time and the right person, " he said wisely.
I stopped the swing, I got up and turned around. This time I didn't focus on his eyes. I seen him entirely, he was fit, he had dirty blonde curly hair, his skin was golden. I almost wanted to ask if he was truly real because he was my ideal image of what an angel would look like. I moved closer to him and lost my thoughts at the sight of his eyes.
"Harmonia, you deserve every happiness that life has to offer, find your passionate love," he said taking my face in both his hands.
"I want passion, I want something that is true," I said tilting my head still looking into his eyes.
He brought my face closer to his with his hands and kissed me. I closed my eyes and kissed this handsome stranger back. I ran my fingers through his hair deepening the kiss. He was a good kisser. I pulled away first although I didn't want it to stop. I felt him pull away too. I caught my breath and then opened my eyes. He was gone as if all of this was a daydream. Thinking that it was I walked back into the palace and was just in Time for the announcement from my mother that the feast was to begin and cake be handed out. I was excited about the cake because I wasn't allowed to have a lot of sweets. I sat down next to my grandmother and a piece of my favorite cinnamon cake, with apple pie filling and cream cheese frosting was set in front of me. I looked around on the table for a fork, eager to devour my cake. I excused myself from the table and went to the serving table and couldn't find one. I turned around from the table to see a fork in front of my face. The man holding the fork was Allister.
I guess I didn't imagine him at all he was a real person. I took the fork from him.
"Thank you for the fork and the kiss," I said flirtatiously, all I could think of was his lips on mine at that moment.
“My pleasure in giving both.” He said and kissed my hand.
