With the energy of their kiss still in and around them, they parted. Carmel looked at him in wonder. His eyes were still closed, his face in a passionate repose as he tried to gain control of his ragged breath. But when he opened them, his eyes rested on her face and she saw the moment that pure hatred and disgust that flickered in his face. He tried to cover it up, but the hurt was soul deep and she pushed him away. “Don’t touch me!” she cried out in pain. He knew that he had hurt her. Her soul was so delicate, but her visage was something he associated with pure evil.
