chapter One

I sit across from madam G in her dimly lit office. She eyes me with disgust and something else I can't seem to place. I ignore her obvious distaste towards me, because I know what I was getting myself into when I made the decision to come here. Madam G is a well known broker of very special commodities. I'm wearing my regular jean trouser, paired with the white tank top I got from a thrift shop and a pearl necklace. The pearl necklace felt a little bit extra so to tone it down I decided to put my hair up in a bun. "So you're here to sell your virginity" she says, as she glares at me "Yes, that's right" I replied, trying to hide the shakiness in my voice. "Why? To buy new handbags? A fancy car?" She snaps. "What? No!" Her assumptions were almost getting to me but I quickly reminded myself of the reason I'm here. "My sister is in the hospital. She has a rare form of cancer. The doctors told me her treatment is going to cost $100,000." "And the only way to get that money is to sell your body" She finishes I maintain my posture and try not to cower from embarrassment. "My parents are dead. She's the only family I have left. You have to understand I won't be here if this wasn't my last option." Madam G is silent and staring at me. I can feel her piercing gaze as her eyes trail my body as if she was inspecting me. I fidget in my seat a little, my hands are clammy and my heart is racing rapidly in ny chest. For a moment I assumed Madam G would be able hear it. "Hm," she looks at my face "I have very high standards for the girls I take on. And my clients do as well." she informs me. It must have taken this woman years to master her poker face! She's a good at it. "Well, I'm happy to do whatever it takes. I'll not dissapoint you." I replied desperately. I can't deny it, I am desperate. And I'm sure she can already tell that. A slow smile curls Madam G's lips "You're desperate." I'm about to explain to her why, but she lifts her finger to stop me "And charming, too." she adds "I like it. A client of mine, Alexander Wilson said he wanted someone outgoing" "Alexander Wilson?" I asked a little bit confused She slides a file across the table, the name Alexander wilson written on the tab. "This is the man who will be purchasing…. What you have to offer" she tells me. I stare at the closed file, my heart thumping. "You can do this. It's just s*x, do it and get it over with. And remember it's for a good cause." I tell myself I open the file. My eyes widen as I take in Alexander Wilson. I study the man in the picture, he hadhad to be at least six foot four, maybe even six-five, with solid, sculpted muscle packed onto every inch of his powerful frame. Longish black hair grazed his collar and fell over one green eye, Stubble darkened his jaw, and a hint of a tattoo peeked out from both sleeves of his shirt. He was the opposite of the preppy, clean-shaven types I usually would go for, but that didn’t stop a swarm of butterflies from taking flight in my stomach. "He wants to pay for my virginity?" Saying it out loud now, sounds like the most stupid decision i've ever made. But, I guess this is what we do for those we love. "True, but not every woman will marry him" she replies "much less give him a child" "Marry him? What do you mean?" I ask calmly "You never said anything about marriage or a child" I'm sure I'd have remembered if she did, and she didn't. "Look, Khloe, darling . You're a pretty girl but your virginity alone isn't worth one hundred thousand dollars, you know? If you want to make this kind of cash fast, your bet is Alexander Wilson." "What? No, I don't even know him" I stuttered "I can't marry someone I don't know and have his child.. A baby is not an easy decision to makel." My earlier nervousness had disappeared, now I was just left with irritation. And with the way Mrs G has been talking about marrige and babies, I can feel myself wanitng to storm out in an angry fit. "Besides, I don't think I have time for marriage and a baby. Kassie comes first." My sister who I am doing all this for. "Yes, and to save her life you must make a tough choice. "Seems fair to me" she repliies, completely unfazed by the fact she's advicing me to have a strangers daughter!. She taps Alexander Wilson's photo, then slides the contract alongside it. "You're getting a good deal out of this, Khloe. It takes a whole year or even more to find the amount of money you're looking for" She makes a good case. "Look, Alexander Wilson is young and very good looking. And did I mention wealthy?" She gave a devilish smile. I hate how exposed and open this situation makes me. I reek of desperation and everyone, like Mrs G that tend to gain from the desperate decisions would push for it to happen. I sigh tiredly. This is the only choice I have and she now knows it. Kassie needs this money, and I've run out of options. I peruse the contract laid before me – a year of marriage and a baby via artificial insemination in exchange for one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000). This isinsane. But she is right, It is a lot of money. Kassie is worth every cent of it and more. "I'll sign the contract. It's a deal" I said to Madam G. I take the pen, unintentionally letting it hover over the document. I feel like I had little time to think about my decision. But I also know there's no time. There's a sweet little girl on a hospital bed that I'd do anything for. "There's no going back now, Khloe." I mutter to myself before signing the contract. "You made the right choice, Khloe." Mrs G assured me. Then why did it feel like the wrong choice? "I hope so," I tell her.
