"Why?" Jason asked.
Monica responded, "I don't get a kick out of playing with people's feelings, and I don't need to."
"Just stay put at Hurricane Club. I already talked to your supervisor. What happened before won't happen again. You've got the talent, and you'll get your place no matter which club you're in."
Jason had never been one to second-guess himself. Before, he worried Monica wouldn't believe him, so he figured sticking close and proving himself overtime was the way to go. But now, it was clear that his approach wasn't working. So, he went straight for it. "Ms. Davidson, you really don't see how I feel about you?"
Monica admitted, "I see it."
Jason's eyes lit up at her response until Monica continued, "And so what?"
Jason insisted, "At least give me a shot to prove myself.
