The days since I was marked were amazing. Maverick was sweeter and more attentive than normal. He barely left my side—and not in the clingy, “I’m afraid to have you out of my sight” way from before. No, this was more supportive, more of a desire to be close, to bond. I did feel closer to him. We were both more in-tune with the other’s emotions and needs. It was just remarkable.
