Chapter Thirty-seven The final prosecution witness was an insurance broker by the name of Hans Schrieber, called by the prosecution to clarify the mystery surrounding the insurance policy. Although Matthew received his statement only that morning, Oscar counseled their client that it would be in their best interests to allow the witness to give evidence, as cross-examination might prove to be fruitful. Schrieber was immaculately dressed in an expensive-looking bespoke dark suit, complete with a cream shirt, a maroon tie and a matching handkerchief, which poked from his suit pocket. Jet-black hair and a face that boasted some type of fake tan gave the overall impression of a new car salesman, one notch up from his used-car colleagues.
