Chapter Eighteen Matthew had arranged the conference with Jessica Vandermeer for 10 am the following day, and she arrived by taxi a few minutes early. ‘Good to see you, Jessica,’ Matthew said as he walked into the waiting room. ‘Lena is waiting for us in her office. It’s a little more organised than mine.’ After they had settled in, Matthew gave Jessica a copy of the prosecution brief. ‘Take your time, there’s no hurry,’ Matthew said as she commenced reading. He had deliberately wanted to watch her as she took in the contents.
