[NOT REVISED/EDITED] FORCING THE DOOR to lock immediately before his parents enter is quite stressful for Devin to handle. His Mom and Dad want to talk about his previous grade getting lower and lower as the trimester pass by but he is not ready to talk about it. "We need to talk." his mom said in a very calm way. She took a deep breath, putting her hand to her chest in order to stay still and unbothered. "Are you okay, hon?" his father asked, giving his wife temporary support. She nodded. Whether she likes it or not, his mom needs to be a very patient person in terms of this kind of problem, or else she will end up suffering in hospital as she was lacking oxygen in no time. As his mother was tranquil, his dad seems to lose his patience." Open this door, or I'll wreck this s**t up, young man. You know that I'm not joking. " his dad said, banging the door to death. Devin leans towards the door and sits, hugging his limbs. A slight tear dropped across his face without even knowing it. He expected his parents to understand that he's still adjusting from the new neighborhood, the new society he's living in, but it seems like they are the first ones to not realize the struggles of being the only one different. of being an outsider. of not belonging. It's not that easy. "Devin. Son. Let's talk about this, please, I don't want us to be like this," her mom was already crying. He felt guilt for a minute. He knew that his mom loves him so much and the same as he. They might not see it on the way he acts every single day but he really loves his parents. He wants to talk to them to clear things out but he doesn't know how to. It's already too loud in his head, he cannot speak it out of his mind. "Devin Brookes. Every time this is happening, I just let it slip because I know you're still upset from your issue with your REAL parents, We know that the pain is still deeply scattered in your heart. That's why you can't accept the fact that you are our child now. But today, you're here on our roof, you need to get reprimanded. You're not getting any younger anymore so pull your pants up and be matured. Be a man, opened this f*****g door, and let's talk. You need to get a scolding or two" that's his dad. Ever since the day he was adopted by these two love birds, he knew that they love him. What his dad said was true, he's the only one who can't move on. Devin had made up his mind. He stood up, looking down on the floor, and finally unlocked it and face his parents. The moment his dad saw his face, he can't help but punch his face. He stayed out of balance and drop straight on the floor. Robert lifts him back up while pinning him down the wall. "If you really wanna ruin your life, go, ruin it. Don't incorporate us when you're the one being miserable here" He was about to hit him once again but his knuckled fist suddenly turned steady on-air as Selene clasp it immediately before he might cause bruises on her son's precious black "Why don't you continue punching my face? That's the only thing you are good at right? Punching people's faces. C'mon, do it. Why can't you do it? Do it." Devin said mockingly, awhile grasping his father's fist, hitting his swollen face. Robert grabs his shirt, squeezing it. "You never failed to disappoint me," he said, then free him immediately. He appeared to go out but what Devin said after made him in shock. "Why me? Why did you choose me to adopt me back then?" he looked down and continue on speaking. "Why? How can you adopt a person you don't even know where he came from? I remember when we first met at the orphanage, I was four at that time and you said 'Hi little guy, we are your new parents' Do you even know that every time I go to school I feel like I'm in hell full of racist mother fuckers who don't have anything to do but to bully me. I'm doing my own thing and one time a complete stranger came to see me just to spill something right onto my face saying 'How could a couple with such pale skin have someone like you as their son. I always experience this kind of s**t. Every single day, there is a new thing going on Now tell me you still want to be my parents when you don't even throw a part of your to be with me. You guys are always at work as if you'll get promoted every now and then. Even on my birthday. I'm so tired of you guys, saying, I'm so sorry honey, I got overtime today, don't worry I promise we will go for a vacation with your dad,' like what the f**k, since when did you have time for me? There are times I just don't wanna wake up for another day to live in. All day, all night I'm in this room, laying down on this shitty bed for several hours thinking how reckless and shameful Devin Brooks has gotten. Then one day, this man came into my life. He insisted on talking without knowing nor judging me. And yes, these days he's with me. Doing all the craziest things. Whenever I'm with him, I feel warm and safe whithin his arm. He made me feel that I'm home with I never ever felt when I'm with you. He’s the only person that insisted on giving his shoulders for me to cry on, he’s the only one I can relate to, he’s the only guy that understand me. He is that one guy who will not leave you on your worse days. But now, I think seeing him right now is nearly impossible.” Devin said looking like he broke-down into tiny little pieces. He’s completely a mess. He deeply squatted and pulled his hair tightly as he has nothing to do but to think about how to not be f****d up—since he is right now. Selene crawls towards him saying, “I’m so sorry, Devin. I didn’t know. I never had the chance to talk to you like this because you dad and I was too busy with work. I didn’t had time to discuss with you on what you feel. I’m sorry because somehow, I failed you as a mother. I didn’t have a change to say that you can tell me, tell us everything. I didn’t make an effort to gain your trust. I wasn’t able to show you that we’re on your side, that you are safe with us, with me and your dad. I really really sorry, son.” she gently touched his face while tears seeping all around her face as her eyes were absolutely red and swollen. Devin put his mom hand away from his face and said, “Of course, you don’t know. Since when did you even care? Where are you when I was sitting on a waiting shed, waiting for you to put and give me my medal and diploma? That’s your son’s graduation but, where are you? You’re eating in a restaurant with your colleagues and partying while me, I went home all dressed and wet. When I need you, you are not by my side but now, you’re acting like you are hurting or something. Y’all know nothing so stop acting like you care because I just feel pitiful and worthless.” Before things sink in on Devin’s mind, he stood up and snatched phone that had been ringing earlier, and also his father’s car keys. He left the room, gone downstairs, and soon after left the house. He has nothing to lose now. If being rebellious is what they want, then he’ll show them what Devin really is when he’s a rebel. He hurried up to get in the car and start the engine. “Where are you going? Devin! Come back here!” Robert tried to chase him but the car already gotten far away before he even steps out of the house. IT WAS already late night and he still hasn’t reached his desired destination. Where does he really want to go? Is there somewhere he want to go to? —well no. He still hasn’t decided yet. He just really wants to go somewhere he can’t feel the pain but even how far he has gotten now, he still endures it. Probably not either his parents or his friend. He has a family who he just argued with and friend who is—Wait. Is he really his friend? He’s only there when he needs something and he also hang-outs with his bullies—so no thank you, he would rather chew his own foot. While driving, Devin noticed the small droplets of rain that surrounds the windshield. It’s hard for him to see clearly, take note that there is a thick fog outside. In the middle of nowhere, the car just stopped working. He tried to work on the steering wheel and also on the car pedals but nothing happened so he took his phone from the other seat and open it. He scrolls on the notification bar and there is a bunch of notifications in there. It’s all about social media but he’s not doing it often so he doesn’t care that much. As he was checking some notifications up, one of them caught his attention. ‘alecthehoe ( 16 Missed calls )’ Devin went to the contacts and dialed his number. “Were sorry. You’re call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and try again or call your attendant to help you. Sorry.” Bullshit. He dialed again but it seems like there isn’t signal at all. The rain is loud and thundering but he has no choice but to go outside and face this calamity. Minutes after, he’s still dialing. There’s no response. He’s now under a huge tree near a narrow road where his car Is parked. He is biting his nails as well as trembling. He is worried and panicking at the same time he is overthinking that something might bad happened to him. He really has a bad feeling—Shall I go see him? AFTER THIS HIS LIFE WENT LIKE HELL. What happened? Who is he seeing? What’s their relationship? What made his life really complicated after this? What happened”?
