Chapter 22TELESPHORE RICHEMARTEL STOOD at the edge of the harbor at Ashdod, watching one of the world's largest cargo ships being dismantled. Waves from the salvage boats and the rocking cranes lapped the piers below him. Poking their heads above the gentle waves, divers were connecting chains to raise the turbines, one at a time. Four floating cranes rose like skeletal obelisks above the sunken hull. Somewhere nearby, though not visible to him, Declercq observed the destruction. Behind him, a line of trucks took on the solar panels that had been retrieved.
