Chapter 10 Look Great Together

565 Words
A tight little smile tugged at the corner of Eleanor's mouth. Sipping some water to wet her dry throat, she then handed the bottle back to Louis so that he could cap it. Smiling unconcernedly, Eleanor said, "Well, circumstances left me with little choice." Louis raised his eyebrows upon hearing that. He then handed Eleanor the sandwiches and milk. "You haven't had breakfast, right? Come on. I bought them from your favorite sandwich shop on my way." Eleanor thanked him and accepted the food. Eating while receiving an IV drip made it tricky for her to drink the milk, so Louis held the milk within easy reach, allowing her to sip simply by just turning her head. Louis looked at her and said, "If Ava learns about your situation, she will be on the next flight back to ream you out." Eleanor said lazily, "She won't know unless you tell her." "She should be returning home soon anyway. You can't avoid her nagging," Louis refuted. "No hurry. Let's wait until she returns." Asher, who walked out of the elevator, happened to see the two laughing and talking. Sofia smiled at Asher and said, "Asher, thank you so much. I wouldn't have burned myself if I hadn't insisted on cooking. Thanks for accompanying me here." "No problem," Asher said. Sofia then asked, "Shall we go back now? The food should be ready." Asher didn't answer. He fixed her eyes on Eleanor, watching her being intimate with another man. Sofia didn't get his response, so she followed his gaze and looked over, spotting the pair. A smile appeared on Sofia's face. "Isn't that your secretary? Her boyfriend is good-looking. They look great together." Asher's smile vanished, replaced by a cool detachment. He snorted secretly. Did they look great together? He didn't think so. Not far away, Eleanor quickly finished the milk. "Put your hand down. I've finished it." Louis nodded, then took out a tissue and carefully wiped the corners of her mouth. Eleanor's smile was bright and natural, a stark contrast to her usual aloofness at work. Instead, there was a hint of tenderness and warmth in her eyes. Asher took a few glances at them, then looked away, and said coldly, "Let's go." Sofia was still sizing up Eleanor. Hearing his words, she immediately nodded and sighed, "Okay. It's my fault. I will never cook again." Asher agreed with her idea. Without her incident, he wouldn't have seen Eleanor with another man and felt upset. "I have to go back to the office. Let me send you back first." Sofia asked, "Aren't you having the meal with me?" "No," Asher answered. Sofia sighed in disappointment but still nodded, agreeing, "All right." After sending Sofia back, Asher immediately returned to the company. When passing by the secretariat, he asked Venessa knowingly, "Where's Eleanor?" Venessa was momentarily stunned but immediately responded, "She was sick today and asked for a day off." Asher snorted and said, "I don't care whether she is really sick. There is something wrong with the document she sent yesterday. Call her back now." Before Venessa could reply, he strode into the office and slammed the door shut. Venessa parted her lips silently, a little confused. What did the error in yesterday's document have to do with Eleanor? She was only responsible for delivering it. However, she had no choice but to call Eleanor.
