Chapter 11 Kiss

641 Words
When Eleanor received Venessa's call, she had just finished one of her injection fluids. After hearing Venessa's words, she frowned slightly. Her throat was still aching, and she asked in a hoarse voice, "Now?" Venessa confirmed, "Yes. That's what Mr. Anderson said." Already under the weather, Eleanor felt further drained by the demand. She believed that Asher was just causing problems. She had taken a day off, yet he still asked her to go back. Moreover, she and Venessa shared the same puzzle. What did the problem with the document have to do with her? He should have talked to the person in charge. However, Eleanor had no choice but to agree. She rubbed her brows and said, "All right. I'll be there right away." "Okay." Venessa then hung up the phone. Louis supported his head while scrolling through his phone. After Eleanor finished the call, he looked over and asked in displeasure, "Did Asher ask you to go back to the office?" Eleanor nodded. Louis let out a derisive snort. "You've been working for him for over a year. What useful information have you obtained?" Eleanor pressed her lips and didn't answer. Louis said, "Since it's useless, just quit and save yourself from trouble. There will always be other ways." "But handling it through him is the best and fastest way, isn't it?" Eleanor retorted calmly. Louis had no comment. Eleanor didn't continue this topic but called the nurse over and asked her to have her IV removed. The nurse came over and inspected the situation. "You still have one bag left. It's best to finish it." Eleanor said, "I'm afraid I can't. Duty calls." With a sigh, the nurse removed it at her insistence. While doing it, she muttered, "You young people are working too hard. You have a fever and still insist on working. Remember, your health always comes first." Hearing this, Eleanor smiled faintly. After dealing with the rest of the procedures, Eleanor and Louis left the hospital side by side. Fortunately, Louis drove over and could take Eleanor to her workplace. Eleanor sat in the passenger seat and rolled down half of the window. A breeze blew in, taking away some of the stuffiness. Louis steered the car while handing Eleanor a bottle of water with the cap unscrewed. "Drink some to wet your whistle." Eleanor took a couple of sips and glanced at the car's interior. "Your car is nice." Louis said casually, "I'll give it to you then, making your commute easier." Eleanor couldn't help but chuckle, "Forget about it. It's quite convenient to take the subway or take a taxi." Louis raised his eyebrows slightly but didn't force it. Twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of the Anderson Group. Asher worked at the headquarters, while Clyde was in charge of the entertainment company somewhere else. Eleanor got out of the car, waved goodbye to Louis, and walked in. In the office on the top floor, Asher stood before the French window and watched them together. His eyes were cold, a mocking smile appearing on his face. About five minutes later, Eleanor knocked on the door and came in. She had a pale face and was clad in a light brown dress that hung loosely on her thin frame. Perhaps because of her illness, her eyes were a little misty, making her look pitiful and fragile. "Mr. Anderson, how can I help you?" "There is a problem with the file," Asher stated. Eleanor directed him, "Then you should go to the director who is in charge of the documents." Asher stared at her. The way she looked now stirred an urge to hold her in his arms. Acting on impulse, Asher strode over and pulled Eleanor into an embrace. Before she could react, he lifted her chin and kissed her without hesitation.
