Ava gave a sigh of dismay. "Come and bail me out, or the police won't let me go. I called Gianna but couldn't get through."
Eleanor rubbed her temple and said, "Fine. I'll head there right away. Send me the address."
Running halfway downstairs, Eleanor realized that she wasn't wearing slippers. She didn't bother to go upstairs to put them on and just walked on the floor in her socks.
Downstairs, Asher was also on the phone. When he saw Eleanor coming down, he said perfunctorily into the phone, "Okay."
After hanging up, he glanced down at Eleanor's feet and frowned a little. He didn't say a word, but took a pair of slippers from the shoe closet and bent down to lay them out before her.
"Put them on," Asher said in a commanding tone.
Eleanor went silent briefly and complied.
