CAN’T GET CAUGHT “No one,” I chuckled nervously, I had no idea Callum was standing out there. “Ohkayyy; I got up to ease myself” he said as he walked into the bathroom. I was thankful he didn't probe further. ~~~~~~~ “Morning babe” I greeted as Callum walked down the stairs, “ common, join me for breakfast” I grinned as he approached, looking puzzled. “ I made breakfast;” I exclaimed as he took his seat. “To cheer you up” I added as I began to dish his omelet. “ We have not had breakfast together in a while,” I watched as he began to eat. His face, void of any emotions. “ Callum, you can always tell me when things are not going well” I broke the silence. Catching his gaze as his face brightened a bit. He gave a smile that faded immediately. “Thanks” he finally said, taking my hands in his and patting it tenderly. He soon let go and continued his meal “Callum, I know you just want to make things right with Sonya,” I said, his gaze immediately averted, his face meeting mine. “You can do that Callum; I won't stop you” I added, catching the smile that crept its way to his lips. I had a hunch that Callum heard a bit of my conversation last night, I had to make sure that he suspected nothing of my plans even if it meant playing nice to Sonya. “ I love you Callum,” I said. “Thanks babe, love you too” he let out a smile as he continued to stuff his face. ~~~~~~~~ Three weeks have passed since Sonya's outburst at the dinner. I tried my best to stay away from her even if it was the hardest thing I had ever done. I knew I had to give her the space she requested, if that was going to get me on her good side, then I was going to do it. I kept busy trying to figure out what Amanda was up to. Her conversation that night had sounded so intense, even if I wanted to believe it was nothing serious, I just couldn't shrug it off. “I can no longer leave it to my men…..” her exact words kept playing in my head. Those were the words I could recall as the rest was in a whisper. “ Did she find out about Sonya and me” I had no idea if she had found out that we had s*x. I knew this wasn't just a hunch and it was leading to somewhere. A part of me just hoped it had nothing to do with Sonya. She had acted so nice that morning, and suddenly she wanted me to make things right with Sonya. It just didn't make any sense. “Knock knock,” Stephen said, as he walked in all smiles. His perfect dentition came into view. “ You seem overly excited,” I said, watching as he beamed while taking his seat. “Well yeah I am” he replied, still grinning from ear to ear. “ Well that makes one of us” I scoffed, mocking myself inwardly. “I think Amanda is up to something” I started, “ she has been having these shady conversations on phone” I continued, watching as his smile instantly changed to concern. “ Are you sure about this?” he probed, feigning concern. “She is your wife man; you don't want to make wrong assumptions, trust me,” he said, fondling some papers on the office table. “ You probably just think she is up to something because Sonya is now In the picture” he added. “I don't know Stephen, it's just a hunch that won't go away”. I thought about what Stephen said, what if I was wrong and I was just trying to find faults in Amanda because I was starting to fall for Sonya. I decided to let it go. The doorknob twisted, Stephen and I diverted our gaze to whoever was coming in. “Hiiiii” Amada greeted as she walked in. “ I made lunch,” she said, placing the basket of food she had with her on the table. “There is plenty for everyone” she added, gesturing for Stephen to join us. Stephen let out a smile “See! Totally harmless” he mouths. Making me smile. I watched as Amanda dished the food and we all ate After lunch, Amanda gave me a kiss, leaving the office with Stephen following behind her. Office Lobby… “Did my husband mention anything?” I asked, calling Stephen to a corner. I knew Callum always sought advice from Stephen. “Anything like what,” Stephen asked, glancing around the premises suspiciously. “Did he talk about me” I probed further “No,” Stephen declared. “And even if he did; I always have your back” he added, smiling Stephen has always had a soft spot for me, he always had his way of keeping Callum off my back and I liked him for that. “I don't think we should be having this conversation over here” he added, his lips curving into. A smile. From the smile he had on I could tell, he knew more than he was letting out. I knew Stephen well enough to know he had it covered. “You owe me big,” he added, still looking around suspiciously. I gave him a stack of cash “ Keep up the good work, very soon, they will be off our backs” I patted his shoulder tenderly. Watching as he walked back into the office where Callum was.
