IRIS POV
“He is dead!”
The word rang in my ear like an exploding bomb, instantly muting every other sound in the room. My heart stopped mid-beat, hanging heavy in my chest like a block of ice.
I stared at Ryker’s face, searching frantically for any sign of a lie. Any tiny twitch that would tell me he was playing a cruel mind game.
I laughed bitterly.
“Yo….. You must be joking!” I stammered, and shook my head to convince myself it was a kind of joke.
Ryker face hardened.
“I said he is dead! His voice roared through the small room, vibrating the thin metal window in their frames.
He took one long, towering step toward me, his massive shadow completely swallowing me. “Do I look like a joker to you?”
My blood ran cold, cold sweat broke through me.
What?
“No! No! No!” I yelled my eyes burning.
Ryker tilted his head down, watching me crumble with absolute, cold indifference.
“Your precious father is burning in hell now iris.”
The world spun around me. I grabbed my hair, my fingers tangling in the messy strands as I pulled hard, trying to use the physical pain to wake myself up from this nightmare.
My father. My gentle, quiet father. The man who held my hands when I cried, the man who stayed up late to read to me, the only person left in this brutal world who truly cared if I lived or died.
“You killed him! You killed him!” I threw my legs over the side of the bed, my feet hitting the cold floorboards as I stared up at him with pure hatred.
“You monster! You murdered him!”
He smirked and leaned closer to me pushing my hair backwards. His breath fan against my ear.
“Whatever you call it darling! It called karma.”
Fire of rage burn through me and for the first time I could feel Snow angry at Ryker.
“I will kill you!” I snarled my chest heaving with murderous intent.
Before Ryker could pull back, my body violently revolted against its human form. The bones in my hands and arms cracked loudly, snapping and shifting under my skin with sickening pops. Pain flooded my nervous system, but the rage swallowed it whole.
Within seconds my dress had ripped into shreds. My height towering the floor.
Ryker looked smugly.
With a vicious snarl, I launched my heavy frame off the floorboards. My claws dug deep into the wood, leaving long gouges as I leaped straight for Ryker’s exposed throat, my jaws snapped wide open to rip his windpipe from his neck.
He was unnaturally fast.
Instead of ducking, Ryker thrust his left arm straight up, throwing his broad forelimb directly into the path of my open mouth to block his neck.
*SNAP!*
My teeth sinked into the protective pad. I growled and whipped my heavy front paws forward, flexing my sharp black claws. I raked them violently down his chest, trying to gut him.
SCRATCH!
My claws tore straight through his thick shirt, leaving four deep red lines across his chest. Blood welled up, staining the fabric, but Ryker didn't even make a sound. He didn't flinch or stumble backward. He simply absorbed the impact like an iron wall.
His jaw clenched, eyes flashed a terrifying, glowing yellow—his own Alpha wolf surfacing just beneath his skin.
“Enough!!” he growled.
Then grabbed the thick fur at the back of my neck with his free hand, his grip like a vice grip. With terrifying, superhuman Alpha strength, he lifted my heavy wolf body right off the ground and throw me hard against the far stone wall.
BOOM!
I whimpered at the impact, breath knocked out of my lungs.
My fur retracted, and my body shrank violently, pulling me straight back into my weak, broken human form.
I lay bare and naked on the floor. My wrist begin bleeding again, hot blood soaking into the wooden floor beneath my hand.
His heavy boots echoed softly against the wood as he stepped toward me.
His towering figure blocked out the light above, casting a long, dark shadow over my shivering body. He looked down at me, his eyes cold, distant, and unbothered by the fresh blood seeping through his torn shirt.
He then turned and walk towards the door.
The door banged loudly.
Complete darkness settled over the room, I broke into sob and clutched my knees to my chest.
Nooooooooooooo!!!!!
Why did I deserve this? Moon goddess why are you treating me like this?
The reason I had survived the humiliation in this pack, the reason I had swallowed my pride and suffered through every beating, every insult, every drop of poison—it was all to keep him safe and now he’s gone.
My fist clenched till my knuckles turn white.
Ryker!!! I will kill you!!!
