The next thing Helena knew was her waking up to a white ceiling. Her head is pounding hard, as she tries to recall everything that had happened last night. Groaning, she moved her body to sit up when she felt pain between her thighs and realized she was naked like the day she was born. With her eyes wide, she slowly moved her head to look at the other side of the bed, holding her breath in the process which she automatically released with a sigh when she saw no one.
Helena decided to lie down again to rest for a bit when all her memories from last night came back to her. Including that god-like man she slept with. The one she gave herself to. He was the most handsome man she had ever seen, his sculpted body and his perfect face. Kissable lips, proud straight nose, light blue eyes and perfectly shaped eyebrows- Helena immediately felt her body go hot and her cheeks heating up. Scolding herself for sleeping with a complete stranger. She covered her face with a pillow and let all her frustrations out because of her own stupidity.
Oddly, she doesn’t feel any ounce of regret for what happened last night. But how can she let that happen? What if it was someone who wanted her dead? Someone who was after her-
“OH SH*T!” she cursed so loudly when she suddenly remembered him saying that he had finally found her!
Panicking, she instantly got down from the bed and tripped on the comforter. The pain between her thighs and now her knees are all disregarded as she carelessly untangled herself from it and picked up her dress from last night, getting dressed as fast as she can. Grabbing her purse and her heels in both hands, she ran out of that room as if the grim reaper was behind her. The moment she was outside in what seemed to be a fancy hotel, she immediately hailed a cab and got on. Taking her phone out, she dialed Lucy’s number after telling the driver her address.
“H-hello?” a groggy voice answered her call after 5 rings.
“Ash?”
“HELENA? YOU BISH! WHERE WERE YOU LAST NIGHT?” Ash’s loud voice made her pull her phone away from her ear. She must’ve spent the night at Lucy’s apartment since it was closer to the club.
“It’s a long story. I’ll tell you both the next time we meet, but anyway, I just called to both tell you that I am safe and I am sorry for worrying you both last night,”
“You better! Lucy and I almost flipped the whole club upside down looking for you.”
“I’m really sorry, ash. I’ll treat you both with food the next time we meet and please tell Lucy that I’m okay and that I’ll make it up to both of you.”
“Alright, just tell us when you are free. Take care of yourself, okay? Mwah.”
“I will. Thank you.”
Dropping the call, Helena sighed and leaned back against her seat. So many thoughts running through her mind and one of those is the gorgeous man who seems to be taking his own space inside her brain now. Shaking her head, she got rid of all thoughts about him. She can’t believe she gave herself to someone she doesn’t know. But the feelings that he made her feel bothered her the most, as if she had known him for a very long time now.
Up until she got off of the taxi and went inside her own home, the battle against herself, about not wanting to think of him and how stupid she was continued on. Closing her front door, Helena roamed her eyes around her house. The old plain looking house before when she first bought it looks so homey now with its vintage interior. It was a medium-sized house that had two doorways that either led to the living room with comfy sofas and beanbags, or to the dining room where her kitchen is also located overlooking her garden. Her house only has two bedrooms, one is where Helena sleeps and the other one reserved for a guest.
Making her way to her kitchen, she made herself something to eat, finishing her food right away in 10 minutes. After that, she hopped in the shower immediately and changed her clothes into more comfortable ones. The slight discomfort in her body reminded her of last night again, which made her groan. She has to stop thinking about him! Grabbing her towel, she wrapped it around her body and stepped out of her bathtub. Standing in front of her sink, she wiped the foggy mirror clean using her hands, but then what she saw shocked her.
Her pale skin has a lot of red marks all over it, especially from her neck down to her chest. A gasp escaped her reddish lips as her eyes widened. Inspecting her body, Helena couldn’t help but curse the man in her mind for marking her skin. Shaking her head, she stepped out of the bathroom and away from the mirror. Furiously getting herself, dressed.
The moment she forgot about him even just for a while, something once again,, triggered her mind to remember him. Grabbing her blower, she dried her hair and lied down on her bed after. Feeling the fatigue from last night, she decided to sleep all her frustrations and bad decisions away, but the moment she closed her eyes. Thoughts of him plagued her system once again and the feelings that he made her feel.
Like the safety and security that she felt while she was in his arms, the way his beautiful eyes stared at her soul as he continuously thrust into her, his hot moans that had seemed to be engraved on her brain now, but most especially his touch that made her feel wanted and loved in the most passionate way possible. Helena knows that she should not be feeling any of these, he could be an enemy or the bad guy. She should stop this insanity of hers and forget about him and the passionate night they shared. With that thought, she fell asleep and drifted to dreamland. Light blue eyes hunting her.
The next day, Helena decided to stay home in the morning and do some gardening and maybe meet up with the girls at lunch. Her shop only operates from Monday to Friday and they only make delivery on weekends if they are already scheduled during their operating hours. After having her breakfast, she immediately changed to her gardening attire, which consisted of a long sleeve shirt, pants and boots. Turning off the automatic sprinkler in her garden, she picked up some of her gardening tools for harvesting flowers. The garden is quite large to accommodate various kinds of flowers; each kind has its own designated area.
As Helena begins to harvest flowers, she hums a random song as she moves from plant to plant, looking like a goddess in the middle of a mini paradise with beautiful radiant flowers varying from different colors to kinds. Reaching almost the end of her flower garden, which is next to a forest, Helena was about to pick up her basket full of her flowers to go back when she noticed a person’s hand on the ground. Her heart beat instantly raced as nervousness entered her body, dropping the flower basket to the ground.
“Oh my god, is that a dead person in my garden?”
Walking slowly, she approached the hand. Her heart beat going faster every step she took. As she came closer, she finally saw the body of a man lying down between her tall sunflowers and some of them were being squished to death by his weight. His face was turned away from her and so she couldn’t see it, but his big frame was very noticeable to her. The first thing that came into her mind was how she would drag him out of there knowing she wouldn’t be able to, but then she had to make sure he was still alive.
Taking a stick that was randomly lying around the ground, Helena cautiously got near the stranger and started poking him gently with the ends of it. She couldn’t risk going near him without making sure he was indeed unconscious. She might be a witch, but if the stranger suddenly attacks her with her guard down, she might not be able to defend herself in time. Plus, using her powers on humans is something she didn’t want to do. But then again, she doesn’t have much choice. She just can’t let a stranger die on her own property.
Going inside her house, she took some bandages, towels and a first aid kit before going back to the stranger. Setting down the materials she had, Helena took a scissor and cut his dirty shirt off, which had mud and stains of blood on it. Revealing a lot of wounds, some are short and others are long cuts littering his back. Helena couldn’t help but gasp, her shaky hands putting the scissors down to take some antiseptics to clean his wound. She would’ve called an ambulance by now but she didn’t want to risk the person’s identity and having him found by his enemies.
Based on how he was in her garden, he might’ve come out of the forest and that he was probably running away from someone who wanted to harm him. As far as she knows, she doesn’t have any neighbors, so this person must’ve been running for too long before collapsing in her garden. When she was done disinfecting and applying medicine on her back, Helena was about to get up from her squat when a hand suddenly gripped her arm, sending those achingly familiar delicious shocks all throughout her body. Gasping, she looked at the manly hand wrapped around her slim arm, moving her eyes to the body, she finally noticed the stranger had already switched position and his gorgeous godlike face was already facing her. The same handsome face that she tried so hard not to think about but fate seemed to have its own twisted plan.
Pulling away her hand, Helena’s face looked like she had seen a ghost while the man grimaced slightly with her sudden movement.
“Y-you..”
His light blue eyes were just looking into her with an emotion she couldn’t read as he tried to sit up, flinching in pain.
“Why are you in my garden? Did you follow me all the way here?”
“I-I didn’t. It was just a pure coincidence that I lost consciousness here, mi amor.”
The familiar endearment brought shivers running down her spine, her body reliving the memories of that night.
“Yeah, right. That’s too much of a coincidence for you to be here of all places,”
“But that’s the truth, mi amor. I am more than glad to lose consciousness here outside of all other places..to be here with you now ”
Again, with that endearment.
“Sure. You’re the only person I know that’s in this situation but still has the time to flirt,” Helena said, scoffing at him.
Which he just answered with a tight smile, clearly in pain, but his bright blue eyes continued to stare at her.
“And stop calling me that. I’m not your "mi amor" or whatever.”
“but you are…” He lowly whispered under his breath as his eyes looked away from her, subtly looking around the whole garden, checking in case someone followed him there.
“Look, let’s say it is really a coincidence. Would you care to give me a number to call on? So they can at least fetch you from here.”
“There’s no one.”
“Not even a friend?”
He only shook his head no and stayed silent. She had no idea if he was just lying to her, but the sadness in his eyes made her rethink otherwise. Deciding just to keep her mouth shut, Helena got up and slowly took his arm and gently helped him to get on his feet. Ignoring the familiar little sparks that came crawling down her skin as they touched, his arm now wrapped around her shoulder as one of her arms was on his waist. Supporting him as they walked, she could notice him staring at her silently as they made their way inside her house. She did her best to not feel awkward as she led him to a room which was just beside her own.
Once they were in, she made him sit on the bed and, once, he was all settled down. She noticed how his eyes were still fixated on her face. Helena couldn’t help the blush creeping up her face as she looked away and cleared her throat. Hearing a baritone chuckle, she snapped her head back to him. Just in time for his face to contort in pain.
“I-I’m going to get you some painkillers so please sit still”, she said, and made her way to her kitchen to get him some meds and a glass of water.
Coming back, she handed him the med and the glass immediately. In which he took without complaint.
“Thank you”, he muttered after he took the med. His deep, sexy voice sent shivers down her spine.
“You’re welcome and please call me if you need anything,” Helena said and hurriedly turned around to leave, wanting to get out of the room as soon as possible and create some distance between the two of them.
But what she did not expect was for him to suddenly stand up and grab her hand as an attempt to stop her when he suddenly fell on his front like his legs were jelly. Helena immediately wrapped her arms around his waist to prevent his fall. Not even realizing what she had done. Their bodies pressed together and the moment she looked up. His light blue eyes had gone a shade darker, his jaw clenched really tightly, trying his best not to take and mark her as his. Right there, right now.
Helena’s eyes once again widened when she finally noticed how closed their bodies were and how his manly scent was now slowly invading her system and making her whole body tingle in delight. And before she lost herself in all these unfamiliar feelings that he was making her feel once again, she decided to pull herself from that small trance and immediately took a step back to put a little distance between them when she suddenly felt his arms around her in a tight grip, as if keeping her in place. His head lowered, burying his nose between her neck and shoulder. Her breathing hitched as she felt him take in her scent. Her body stiffened as his breath gave her goosebumps. Helena could not believe how, for the second time now, she was letting this man touch her in a very intimate way.
“L-let me go, Mister, or… I-I’ll kick your b-balls“, her voice sounded like a whisper, like a plea rather than a threat, which made him chuckle.
Her traitorous body, for some unknown reason, is weakening and relaxing in his arms!
“Phoenix. Call me Phoenix, please”, he whispered back softly in her ear as he slowly released her from his grip. Helena hastily pulled her arms away and took a step back. Her heart was beating so fast that it felt like she had run a whole marathon. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm her heart, doing her best to not appear affected by this man’s presence. Clearing her throat, she raised her chin up and spoke.
“O-okay then, P-Phoenix. You may call me Helena. And please wait here. Don’t move around. I’ll just find some clothes for you,”
Without waiting for his reply, Helena turned her back on him, and went out of the room to go to hers and look for clothes that might suit him, but she couldn’t find any. And so she decided to just go to town really quickly, informing her “guest” that she'd be leaving and would be back soon enough. Phoenix just nodded to her, smiling at her gently. Trying his best not to ask where she was going and to not creep her out more than she already probably was already. His wolf whined at him to follow their mate but Phoenix decided against it. On the other hand, Helena immediately left and got inside her car and started it, making her way to town. Once again, her brain is filled with Phoenix and his light blue eyes.
“Ugh!”
