“That was fun,” my adopted mother said with this huge smile on her face, as we drove back to their hotel. My adopted father was in the back, while Neffi sat quietly next to me, staring out the window. I could tell she was upset, and I understood why. My father knew better than anyone what happened to Neffi’s parents. Hell, he was in the process of looking for those responsible, so there was no reason for him to bring them up. Luckily, he changed the subject; however, the damage had already been done.
