The mate selection, such an interesting time of the year as I've heard the men talk about.
Dark's men were more like soldiers; they trained and fought, having little time for women. Then, his mother brought up the suggestion of inviting every maiden around for a grand bouquet once a year. It worked, and most of Dark’s men found their mates in this bouquet. But for Dark, it was different. He never found a mate.
I sat before Dara and Silas. Riven had gone to see Dark after he was called. Luckily, I arrived just in time—right when Jaxon was about to pass a sentence on the three of them. Jaxon was about to have me caught, and just then, Dark walked in and saved me.
