Beep beep beep beep.
Ugh. Time to wake up. I turned off the alarm clock, and turned on my lamp. It's 6:00. Time for the first day of school. I sit up and swing my legs over the edge of the bed. Yawning, I look in the mirror. Great. I grimaced. Bags under my eyes and my hair dried weird last night.
I hop in the shower get all cleaned up, and wrap the towel around my torso. After drying and styling my hair, and putting on some basic makeup I looked back in the mirror. So much better.
I don't think I'm that awkward little girl anymore. My breasts are definitely larger, about a c cup. I'm thin, not too thin, have hips and a butt for sure. My eyes are a deeper green than my mom's with a touch of hazel gold in them.
My hair is brown, long, layered, blonder highlights to it. Red tint.
Thank god for cooling gel masks, my eyes weren't as puffy anymore. Next clothes.
I had a whole wardrobe of new clothes after my mom let me go shopping with her credit card.
I carefully picked out some dark skinny jeans, a bra, tank top, and a blazer. Keeping it classy. I thought to myself, satisfied. I put on necklace, simple but sparkly, put on some tall stylish black boots, with short heels.
After a final scan of myself in my floor length mirror, I grabbed my keys and headed out. My dad had salted the stairs and the concrete and had stronger tires with more tread on them installed on my car.
The concrete was still slightly slushy, and the low temperature caused that extra slush to refreeze over into patches of ice. The air is freezing, sharp. The wind like knives on my face. The sun, still making it's way over the horizon, lit up the surroundings. The trees smelled nice. They smelled like Winter. I'm definitely not used to this much foliage. It's kinda beautiful. The sky is a grayish tint.
It took a minute for my car to get heated up, and i mashed the seat heaters on.
"Fuuuuuck this...." I mumbled, shivering violently as I waited for my car to heat up. I backed out of the driveway and down to the school. It loomed, not really ominously or expectently like it does in those movies where the "new girl" is the protagonist. Although, at this point in time, I'm definitely the protagonist of my own story.
The school was really big, I mean my old school was at four stories tall, this one was only two, but holy crap, the size difference. The bricks stood starkly against the sky, and the lights inside flitered out through it's many windows. Around me, the other students parked and sleepily made their way through the large entrance.
The car behind me, was old, slightly beat up, but i could hear the muffled bass. A group of my peers, faceless in the surrounding darkness, clearly sparking up a quick joint, and passing it around the vehicle. Definitely wouldn't see that stuff at my old school. I've never even smoked a joint.
"Come on... Just do it." I said to myself, firmly. It shouldn't be that scary. I'll go to the office first like my parents instructed me to pick up my class schedule and let them tell me where to go.
Walking in the flouricent halls, and taking an immediate right took me to the office.
"Can I help you?" The older lady peered at me through her glasses. Sharon Fields, the name on the name plate said.
"Hi.." I said, grasping my backpack strap nervously. "I'm new here, Sara Gillepsie."
"Ah, yes, gimme a minute and I'll print out your class schedule." She worked away on the computer and the printer behind her started doing it's thing, and she picked up the phone.
"Denise Armstrong, please come in the office, Denise Armstrong, please come see me in the office." She said into the reciever, before hanging up. "Denise is one of our student body ambassadors and she will be your guide in the school.
A perky blonde girl, my age, walked in. Ah hello, Denise... She was clearly one of those cool girls, that i never fit in with at the school I went to. I waited for the usual huffy sigh that I usually get from the "cool girls" my age. But she eyed me up and down, and with a strange glimmer in her eyes, almost... Satisifed?
Huh.. Weird.
"You called?" She said, politely to Mrs. Fields.
"Yes, this is Sara Gillepsie, she's new, You will make sure she's all taken care of?"
"Of course." Denise remarked, and gestured me over. "I'll take it from here."
Here we go, I felt the butterflies start shooting in my belly. Go away anxiety.
She led me down a huge hall, lockers were everywhere, painted crimson, school colors. She was tall and beautiful. Clear skin, knockout blue eyes. Stylish clothes. Jeans, boots, long sleeved blue sweater with silver trimmings.
"Sara, huh? You're, like, super pretty." She started. What? Me pretty? Well that's flattering.
"Thanks, you're super pretty." Great, how do I respond to that? I sound so stupid. I thought morosely. "I appreciate you showing me around."
"Oh, it's no problem, I think you'll fit in just nicely around here, just stick with me." She said, blasting me a million dollar sparkly smile. "This is the commons."
Yep, the commons. People were lining up for breakfast, fooling around throwing paper at each other, listening to music on their headphones, or doing last minute assignments. Food smelled good, though. She led me to a group of, holy. DAMN.
There he was. Blue eyes, dark hair, strong sturdy shoulders, tall. Hot. Wow. He immediately looked up when we arrived. What was that? A flash of tiny annoyance when he saw Denise. His eyes flickered to me, as I walked up. Interest sparked his eyes, possibly cause hello, i'm the new girl.
"Guys, this is Sara, she's new i'm just showing her around. She seems totally chill." Denise said, flopping down next to Mr. Handsome. "Did ya miss me Adam?"
He rolled his eyes and held out his hand, "What's up?"
I grasped it, making sure none of my anxiety could even remotely be detected through a simple handshake.
"Not much, getting used to all this." I moved my hair out of my eyes, and looked around.
"Hey." A tall skinny boy, glasses, He had brown eyes, was attractive. "I'm Brett."
"Hey." I smiled. "I'm Sara, nice to meet you all."
"Where are you from?" The pretty, tiny caramel colored girl said, next to him. "I'm May."
"Dallas, Texas." I replied. Just keep smiling, appear friendly, not overbearing, and DEFINITELY not shy.
"OMG, you are like so pretty!" May exclaimed, and immediately took over the conversation, she's actually super nice, really intimdatingly pretty. She started asking me about what stuff I like, I kept it simple at hanging out with friends, watching TV, maybe nothing nerdy, I don't know how the hierchey works here, but hey fresh start, noone knows me.
"What's your first class?" Denise interrupted with an apologetic look.
"Art with Mrs.... Dockwieller?"
"Oooh, I have her, I can take you since it's on my way." May exclaimed, I could tell she was genuinely stoked.
The bell rang, and May ended up taking me to my first class. The class was big, about 30 kids, of all sorts, you can tell the quiet ones from the others, they're all grouped up talking amongst themselves.
The class itself was easy, the teacher laid out some vases and cups and flowers around each table, we just had to draw it all on paper.
"Wow, you are such a good artist!" May said, looking sadly at her own.
"You're good too." I said, we both laughed and she let me share her earphones. We listened to music and talking quietly as the class went on. After the ending bell, Denise flurried into the room ready to pick me up for my next class. Gym. Great. I hate gym.
She had that one with me, and Mr. Handsome... Or Adam, she called him. Was there too. The P.E. teacher gave me my gym uniform. The shorts were a little short, I didn't have any sneakers, so I had to find the least, uh.. Well you know what all you can find in the gym lost and found. The most harmless sneakers seemed cozy, I'll have to pack up my own for tomorrow though.
"Hey." Adam said, his eyes had this... Smolder to them... f*****g GOD... I know I'm not crushing like this right off the bat. His dark hair was faded but his bangs did this sexy thing where they came out to a poof above his eyebrows. His blue eyes were deep, mesmorizing, and sharp. He had high cheek bones, perfect lines... Just so f*****g perfect.
Get a hold of yourself. I told myself firmly. Play it cool. Jesus, that smolder... If i didn't know any better, he was totally hi-
"HEY! Adam!" Denise ran up behind me and launched herself into a hug around him. Yep. Totally off limits.
"Denise, what's up." He said, eyes flickering to me for a brief moment. Or did they, might just be my hopeful imagination. No. Not hopeful. Good girl.
"EVERYONE LINE UP, we are gonna do some laps!" Boomed the coach, a fit older man, Coach Davis.
I lined up with the rest of the class. Just before the start of the whistle, a tall guy with swoopy skater boy hair squeezed in next to me with an "Oops, sorry." I could have sworn his hand grazed my chest.
He looked at me appreciatively, with a coy wink. The shrill whistle pierced the air. I started off briskly, a controlled pace, I hate running. I'm gonna get all disgusting, and sweaty and I didn't bring a towel. Good thing I brought my makeup though. Denise made it a point to run next to Adam but she beckoned me over near them.
"Stay with our group." She said, and so I did. Being this close to Adam though, I smelled his... what is that Old Spice... Hmm... Smells good, almost intoxicating with his natural scent.
"Damn, look at that booty jiggle." I heard a deep voice behind me whisper, a tall black kid, when I looked. I felt the heat rise in my face, as I turned my head back front swiftly. Never been checked out like that before.
Adam went out into a full sprint leaving us behind (Denise huffed, annoyed he ran off).
"He's fast." I panted, wiping the sweat off my brow.
"Show off." She murmurred. "Don't mind him, he's always showing off, haha."
It didn't take him long to out-lap us, and then he slowed down when he caught up.
After a while of running, we cooled off and drank some water, and went off to the changing rooms.
"You seem to be getting a lot of admirers." Denise remarked, passing me some spare heiygene products and a fresh towel. I took them gratefully, she seemed to notice I didn't come prepared.
"Me? Nah..." I said drifting to the showers, The water felt good after the run. I lathered up and finished off my shower. Denise was blow drying her hair when I came out. She let me use her blow dryer, thank God.
"Seriously, you could be like a model." Denise said, beginning to style her hair. She fixed up her makeup, and got her bag ready and waited patiently for me to finish getting ready.
"Thank you for letting me use your stuff, I thought I had all my P.E. credits, haha." I took a final peak at the mirror, pleased that I didn't look like total trash, and followed her to the next class, Meteorology. Adam and the other guy, Brett, was there already, looking at something on their phones.
"Good morning!" Called the teacher, Mr. Richardson. "Ah, you must be Sara, take a seat next to Adam and we will begin."
"Alright, turn to page 244, we are now starting cloud formations."
"You can use my notes to catch up if you want." Whispered Adam. Being this close to him sent a new flurry of butterflies fluttering inside my belly and chest. Grateful, I looked over and copied as best I could as
I listened to Mr. Richardson give his lecture. Next was indepedent study time, and Denise and Brett pulled up their seats to sit with us, Denise, marking her place on the other side of Adam, looked at him appreciatively.
"What are you doing after school today?" Denise asked me. After school? I haven't even thought of that, just assumed I'd go home and study.
"Nothing really, had no plans to be honest." I responded.
"Come with us, we are gonna go over to Adam's place and smoke up."
Smoke? I mean I've seen my parents do it, but I've never tried it. Doesn't seem so bad though.
"Sure, why not, sounds fun. Thanks."
Lunch was next. I made my way over to the lunch line, behind the blonde kid from P.E. that felt me up... Or brushed against me, who knows.
"Oh heeey, it's you from earlier. Sara was it?" He said, flicking his hair out of his eyes charmingly.
"Hey, yeah, I remember. Shawn, right?"
"Hell yeah, that's me, baby girl. So you're in tight with Denise and all them, huh. I can see why, you are pretty damn gorgeous."
"Oh." I said, taken aback. "Thank you."
"No problem, I call it as I see it. Do you wanna like, exchange numbers? Maybe we can chill sometime."
"Oh, sure." I said, taking his phone as he offered it to me, I typed in my number. This is a first.
"Sweet. Thanks."
We got our food together, he's not so bad, a little bit of a big ego, but he's pretty cool. We took our trays and found Denise who was waving over at us.
"Omg, Shawn already moving in huh?" She laughed, and gestured at the empty seats. "Didn't see you this morning, what were you doing, getting stoned in the parking lot?"
"You know it." He said, digging into his chicken sandwhich. I looked down at my fries, my nerves completely blacked out my appetite. I took a fry anyways and ate it just to have something to do. Do they all smoke pot? Didn't see that too much at my old school. "Coming with us after school?" He directed at me.
"Uh yeah." I said casually, opening my phone. "Hey, got invited by a few new friends at school to hang out for a bit. I'll be home at around 7. I texted my mom.
Ding.
"Be safe, call if you need me." She replied. Cool. I smiled. Denise took my phone before I could put it away, and entered her number. After texting herself, she sent me the address to her place.
"You got your own wheels right?" Adam said, "If you want I can take you."
"No, I've got a car, thanks though." Thump. Went my heart. Denise barely seemed to notice this exchange though, she was typing on her own phone.
"We can meet in the parking lot, after school." She said.
After a few hours, and thankfully not getting lost, the final bell rang.
Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.
I made my way to my locker, and checked out my homework list, the teachers went a little easy since I transferred mid semester. I got the appropriate books out, and closed the door. Immediately backing into someone.
"Hey, new girl." Oh, it's Shawn. He gave me a smile and offered out his hands. "Those look heavy, need a hand?"
"Oh I got it." I said, shouldering my backpack. "Thanks though."
We exited the school and went through the parkinglot, finding my car. Adam and Denise were in the car behind us, making out. Oh so it was them, in that old car smoking.
"Cute." I said, opening my car door.
"Yeah, between you and me though, I think Adam's getting sick of being with her though." Oh? I brushed the thought away and watched Shawn knock on their driver's side window. "Hey, crazy kids. We going or what?"
Denise popped her head up, and saw me. "Hey girl!" She yelled out, hopping out of the car. Was it me or did Adam look a little embarassed seeing me there?
"Damn, you have a nice car, mine's being fixed so Adam's taking me home. I have some 'business' to take care of here, do you mind if you take Shawn? He's a bum and has no car haha."
"Aw, shut up." Shawn laughed, Adam glanced at me and smiled which I returned, politely. "Yeah, I don't mind."
"Yesssss." Shawn said, delighted, and hopped in the passenger side. Slightly bummed, I got in my side and turned on the car. I started blasting some music, and started driving with the GPS. "We will meet them there, probably getting down with some road head."
Driving through a nice neighborhood, the GPS led us to a nice house. Pulling up to the side of the road, to keep room in the driveway, Adam and Denise, arrived shortly. Denise popped her head up, wiping her mouth, and kissing Adam's neck. She looked a little sad about something. He brushed her off, and pointed to my car.
Shawn hopped out and jumped up the stairs and through the front door. I followed Denise and Adam, my heart in the pit of my stomach. I don't know why it made me sad, I'm just the outsider. Adam held the door open for me.
"Thank you." I said, walking past him.
"No problem." He said, there was something about his tone that was off. "After you."
I followed them down into the basement area, where a huge TV hung on the wall, speakers.
"Close the door behind you." Denise called. Closing the door, I walked over and sat on the giant sectional as Denise opened up a bag of weed. "Do you wanna roll it, babe?"
"Yeah." Adam scooped it up and got to work. I felt awkward sitting there, Shawn was a little too close to me for comfort.
"Hey, Sara, do you like vodka, I can make some vodka pineapples." Alcohol, never done that either, but okay. Why not. I'm in a new place, with new people. New start. I gotta grow up sometime.
