Alex

Cameron pov                 School growing up was somewhat stifling. Teachers expected a lot out of me while my classmates were pining for my attention. This was due to the fact that my parents were powerful and my dad being on the council. They felt that if they were my friend that they could get some leniency like my father would ever bend the laws for my friends. this made school lonely. School on Abel is like most schools. While you had the general classes such as math and history, the classes were mainly focused on our powers and how they helped to determine where we were best fit into society. That being said it was very rare for college unless you were unfortunate to not have any abilities. Those who didn’t have them were usually assistants to whatever profession they wanted.                 Teachers expected that I would be of those who were at the top because both my parents had over a hundred abilities. My mom has 105 while my dad, before it was discovered that I was the new allist, was considered the allist. Thus, they expected me to excel. Before I developed my learning ability, I felt that all I did was let them down. I had times where I sought the solace of my own company, and it was during this time that I met my best friend Alex. He was considered in the lower classes because he wasn’t expected to have very many abilities.                 It was like any other day. I had gotten my math test back and I had received a B-. the look on my teacher’s face was a I know you can do better look. Math was never my strong suit. So, before I looked at my teacher, I was very happy that I passed the test at all then I looked up and saw my teachers look. My shoulders sagged and I no longer felt proud of myself. The bell rang and I picked up my books and walked out of the classroom without looking up. I put my books in my locker and grabbed my lunch. I meandered outside not in the mood to deal with the crowd of classmates vying for my attention. There was a bench near a walking path just behind my school. I sat forlornly. Then someone was walking down the path. [unknown] Is it ok if I sit next to you? [me] Sure I guess. [Alex] My name is Alex what’s yours [Me] My name is Cameron. how do you not know me? [Alex] I typically don’t follow crowds so I don’t make much of a point to recognize people but I have heard of you. You are like uber popular how come you are sitting out here by yourself looking blue? [Me] To be honest I think I would be happy if even a few of those who call themselves my friend would actually care about the real me and not the status I come from. As for looking blue I’m feeling like my teachers expect too much of me. I feel like I let them down and they are disappointed in me. I feel like when I accomplish something it’s just not enough. [Alex] That’s tough. Have you disappointed your parents with your school work or just your teachers? [Me] My dad is proud that I am giving it my all. He’s proud that I am improving. My mom cares where I am improving as a person and doesn’t really look too hard at my school work. [Alex] Then I wouldn’t worry about living up to your teacher’s expectations and worry about your own expectations. Then show off your work to your dad who will be proud of you. It should only matter what you think of yourself. What areas do you seem to have the most trouble in maybe I can help you? [Me] Math is the hardest for me the other subjects I have down. [Alex] I love math. Its my best subject. Writing for me is the hardest subject for me. [Me] We can help each other. We can meet at my place after school for studying and maybe playing games afterward. [Alex] Sounds like a great idea see ya after school.                 We became the best of friends and I had a way to dodge the hoards of classmates. He became best friends with my sister as well. So when we were not studying we were playing games just the three of us. Then a little over 2 years after I turned 13 I didn’t really have a need for studying I got the concepts very well. When we had our study sessions, I would be the one to help him study. We graduated with honors and for a time we still hung out then one day he stopped coming over.                 I was 18 when he stopped coming over. I waited a week hoping to hear from him. I was getting more and more concerned especially with the disappearances. I finally decided to speed over to his place and see him in hopes of some answers. I walked up and knocked on the door. His mom answered the door. Her eyes looked red and puffy. When I asked what was wrong, she told me that Alex had been taken by the Blythe. It hit me like a ton of bricks and I just stood there long after she had closed the door. I walked home lost in my thoughts and emotions. I sat there in the living room. My dad approached me and knew that I knew the news he had to give me. He put his arm around me and told me that we will do everything we can to bring them home. Alex POV                 I woke up in a quiet white room. A man in a white lab coat and another man came into the room. The second man turned to the man in the white coat and whispered something. He nodded and I was brought outside with a long line of people. At that point there was another man in a soldier uniform. He began putting people into two different categories. As soon as he said what they were in two soldiers would drag them somewhere. I got nervous as he approached me. The person next me was listed as a warrior. He came to me. He looked at me up and down and said slave. Then two burly men grabbed my arms roughly and dragged me to a shed. Once inside they explained our duties and the various punishments if we messed up on them or forgot one completely. I thought to myself it’s a good thing that I have the self-healing ability and the 4 others that I have for they might come in handy. Over time I envied those who went into the warrior program for surly they must have been treated better than us slaves. It wasn’t until years later that I learned very different. At one point I was very glad that I hid my self-healing ability even though it was difficult.   A/N: Hey readers. I hope you are enjoying the story so far. I know that after Alex’s point of view I left out how he was treated. He will have at least one more point of view later but through another character you will see some of what he went through. The next chapter will be on the war. Thanks for reading
