“What are you doing, Raphael?” Sienna asked after she closed the door. “So many people are angry about the fall of the Baglis household.”
“Exposing a criminal in the nobility and having this criminal punished is what justice is about in the Kingdom of Heaven,” Raphael said, while looking out the window—it was snowing. “This sets us apart from the world order from before the Great War.”
“Yes, I know the public enjoyed your speech in the newspaper. But the noble houses are suspicious. Why Baglis precisely when he’s not the only one who abuses his power? You targeted him because you knew his suspension would open a spot for me on the royal council.”
Raphael smirked. “I couldn’t have known you’ll be the next council member, Sienna. Your father could have chosen anyone.”
