Chapter 2: what is this place

803 Words
Carol woke up that morning and forgot about the book, first she got in the shower as usual and ate breakfast, she was about to read a book she owned when she remembered the library book. She smiled and retrieved the book from its spot on the coffee table, she sat down on the couch and opened the book. But, it was blank, no words, no symbols, nothing, well this is a cruel joke, she thought as she tried to close the book. The key word, tried. It wouldn't close, and the longer it stayed open the more Carol felt like she was being painful pulled, like the book was a black hole and it was ripping her apart. She dropped the book and tried to get away but failed as it painfully sucked her into its pages, then, she was falling, she looked up and saw her apartment before the book closed itself and she was falling into black abyss.     She's been falling for what felt like forever, and she couldn't stop it, she was panicking and she didn't know what to do. Right as she felt like she was going to pass out from the sensation she hit something, hard, it knocked the air right out of her as her vision swam. It felt like she was a few feet under water, not an extreme amount of pressure but enough to make her feel weak. Closing her eyes she tried to stop her growing headache and to master the strength to get up. Once she felt her head settle down she opened her eyes, but, something was wrong. As she looked around she did indeed conclude, this was not earth, not at all. To start off the sky was a light dusty pink, and to continue, she was laying in, what seemed to be grass, that was purple. sitting up with some difficulties she further realized she was in a park of sorts, she could see what looked like houses farther off and was debating if she should move toward them for help or away to stay safe. Thankfully, or not, she didn't have to make that decision as she heard a voice from behind.     "Hey, excuse me, are you OK?" A mysterious voice called from not to far away, turning around as fast as she could (that wasn't so fast as it felt like she was under water) she saw a weird creature in front of her. It seemed human, human face and human shaped games, had cloths on, but it leaking out from the pants seemed to be deer legs. What the?     "Excuse me? Are you OK?" The creature asked again but carol was in shock, she couldn't stop staring at the deer legs, what's going on here?     "if you don't respond I'm taking you to a doctor, well I'm going to anyways you seem dazed and hurt." The creature sounded concerned and it finally yawned on Carol that she should respond in some way.     "I'm f-fine," she stuttered out in a shaky voice, "j-just d-d-dont seem to kn-kn-know where i-i-i-i am." Darn why was it so hard to speak! angry that she had a stutter carol didn't catch what the creature had said to her.     "Well," the creature bent down offering it hands out to Carol witch she gladly took, "maybe I can help you with that." The creature pulled Carol up with so much ease it shocked her. She felt weak standing, like she would fall any minute, lucky her savior was able to keep her up     "M-my name Carol."      "Dustin. Nice to meet you Carol, now where do you need to go?"     "That's the problem," her stutter was gone but her shock wasn't, "I don't know, I just remember falling and landing here, where am I?" She asked, it was the truth but not the whole truth.     Dustin looked even more concerned but answered in a calm voice non the less, "norvil, your in norvil park, do you need a doctor, I think you should go to a doctor." Dustin insisted the last part and carol was debating what to do next. On one part if she left it as this she won't be questioned more but would still be lost, on the other if she was still confused she will be seen as crazy but be less confused.      She was so lost in though it took her a while to notice Dustin had said something and had started moving them forward towards the buildings. She tried to walk on her own but when she broke loose she almost fell from the pressure.     Dustin caught her in time before she hurt herself, "Whoa there, calm down, I'm taking you to a doctor OK?" Carol could only nod as she was slowly guided towards a weirder place.
