Alice stared at Lily.
Lily stared at Alice.
Jake stared at Lily.
Evelyn looked like someone had just unplugged her soul.
Because apparently nobody expected that.
Nobody.
Not even Evelyn.
"No."
Evelyn's voice came out barely above a whisper.
Lily slowly looked at her.
"No one survived."
Her eyes filled with sadness.
"We thought that too."
Alice's stomach twisted.
Thought?
Thought?
Nope.
Nope was becoming her favorite word.
Jake's grip on Alice's hand tightened.
He'd gone completely still again.
Which Alice had learned usually meant one of two things:
Jake was angry.
Or Jake was preparing to kill someone.
She wasn't sure which was worse.
Lily took a slow breath.
"There are others."
Alice blinked.
"...Others."
Lily nodd
