Chapter Four LILLIAN Lillian tapped her heel idly while waiting for her baggage to come around on the carousel. The air-conditioning was a touch too cold in the arrivals hall of Hong Kong International Airport, but she knew that was to combat the record-breaking summer temperatures the city was caught in the clutches of. Thirty-eight degrees celsius with a relative humidity of eighty-eight percent was what the pilot had said over the intercom, before thanking her and wishing her a splendid day. “Splendid, indeed,” Lillian mumbled to herself.
