“No,” Isaac said, shaking his head. “Well, not all. Most of them are born with the antibody. It shuts down the anticoagulant in our saliva very quickly, less than a minute after we’ve stopped feeding.”
“Then how did Calvin manage to kill that man?”
“The boy vampire opened up three major arteries, Lillian. There was no way that could clot.”
“So vampires don’t have this… antibody?” She bunched up her face, clearly doubting everything he was saying.
“When people are turned to vampires, the body stops creating the antibody as part of the metabolic restructuring.”
