Chapter 4: Unveiled Secrets

1053 Words
"I thought you died!" Amelia exclaimed, her voice filled with equal parts shock and relief as she stared at her long-lost friend, Sarah. The forest surrounding them seemed to echo her words, the leaves rustling in a gentle breeze as if whispering their secrets. Sarah's eyes flickered with a mix of emotions—surprise, guilt, and a hint of lingering sorrow. Her once vibrant smile, now touched by a tinge of sadness, wavered slightly. "I thought the same about you," she confessed, her voice barely a whisper carried on the wind. Amelia took a hesitant step forward, her heart pounding with a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. How could Sarah be standing here before her, alive and breathing? Memories flooded her mind, the horrific attack in the forest that had taken Sarah away from her, the pain and emptiness that had consumed her in the weeks that followed. "Sarah, what happened? How are you here?" Amelia's voice trembled with a mixture of hope and apprehension. She reached out, her hand instinctively reaching for her friend's arm as if to confirm that she was real. Sarah met her touch with a bittersweet smile, her eyes gleaming with unshed tears. "I was attacked that night, just like you," she revealed, her voice tinged with a heaviness that mirrored the burden Amelia had carried alone. "But I didn't die. Instead, I woke up to a new reality, a reality that forced me to join the rival pack." Amelia's breath caught in her throat, her mind struggling to comprehend the enormity of Sarah's revelation. “The rival pack? the very same pack that had orchestrated the attack that had supposedly claimed your life… How could you be part of the very pack that had caused us such pain?” I questioned, my eyebrows sloped down towards each other and my eyes squinted. "I didn't have a choice, Amelia," Sarah continued, her voice laced with remorse. "They turned me into one of them, a werewolf. And now... now I don't know where I belong." Conflicting emotions battled within Amelia's heart. Relief at Sarah's survival warred with anger towards the rival pack that had taken her friend away. "You're still my friend, Sarah," Amelia said, her voice filled with determination. "No matter what happened or what pack you're in, we're in this together,” "...friends indeed," Alexander's voice interrupted, cutting through the charged atmosphere. “Take it from me, never trust too hard.” He uttered, stepping forward, his presence commanding attention. His eyes bore into Sarah's, a mix of curiosity and suspicion gleaming in their depths. "Sarah! Leave us…" Alexander commanded, his tone gentle yet insistent. He turned his gaze towards Sarah. “I will be more comfortable if she is around me,” I said, my voice firm as I stood my ground. Sarah had been through so much, and I couldn't bear the thought of her being dismissed again. Alexander's eyes narrowed, his pride and dominance shining through. His desire for control was evident as he locked eyes with me. "Very well," he conceded, his voice filled with a menacing undertone. "But don't think for a moment that her presence changes anything." Sarah nodded gratefully, her eyes flickering with a mixture of relief and gratitude. We stood together, united against the forces that threatened to tear us apart. “I want you to be my mate…” Alexander demanded, “I won’t…” I replied without even thinking for a second, like I had awaited his request. “I am already mated to the triplets,” I added. “Hahaha,” “And where are they right now?” He asked me, “you are with me now, so I would advice you accept my offer.” He added, his voice was low and menacing like I was being coerced. “I’m not scared of you, and my answer is final…” I said, standing firm on my decision even if my mind was feeble and my chest was burdened with fear… my appearance did not betray me this time. In that moment the chambers' doors swung open, revealing a figure standing in the doorway. It was Harry, Alexander's younger brother, his eyes widened in surprise as they landed on me. A spark seemed to ignite between us, an inexplicable connection that stirred the depths of my being. "Apologies for interrupting, Alpha," Harry said, his voice respectful but tinged with curiosity. "I… I had a message for you." He stammered, I knew that he felt what I did too. Alexander turned his attention towards Harry, momentarily distracted from our presence. "What is it, Harry?" he asked, his voice tinged with impatience. "I can see you are quite busy... so I would inform you later," Harry uttered, his gaze never wavering from mine. His words broke the spell of our connection, and I shifted my focus back to the unfolding situation at hand. Alexander had his attention momentarily diverted by Harry's entrance, his piercing gaze directed towards his brother. "I am already done here, let’s go," he replied to Harry. “I want him!” A voice said to me, it was unlike anything I had ever heard before, my heart skipped and looked around to see if anyone was there. “Who said that?” I asked my heart pounded, each beat echoed like a drumroll of impending doom. It was just I and Sarah in the room at the moment, and she was quite some distance from where us was but I heard the voice so clear like a whisper into my ears. Sarah noticing my uneasy attitude, “what is wrong Amelia?” She questioned. “Is everything fine?” Sarah continued as she took a few steps closer. “Did you say something?” I asked Sarah. “No I didn’t” “I swear I heard a voice speak,” I insisted. “Relax Amelia, you are over reacting… you are probably stressed out or something,” Sarah said to me. I was certain my mind was not playing pranks on me or perhaps I had been stressed out from the recent events. “You should listen to Sarah, and stop being so dramatic…” the voice uttered again, this time even clearer than before. “don’t be afraid, I am your…”
