Darren POV: I step out of Derek's office, his words still ringing in my ears. "Take Cyre to a different cell and double the guards. Take the Gammas." Something feels off. I feel it too. Derek's instincts are rarely wrong, and if he's feeling uneasy, then it means trouble is brewing. As I make my way down the corridor towards the dungeons, I signal two Gammas - Logan and Caden - two of the most competent Gammas, to follow. Their footsteps fall in sync with mine, their expressions sharp. The air grows heavier as we begin to descend down the stairs that leads to the underground cells. The scent of damp stone and iron fills my nose, mingling with a faint hint of lavender. Cyre. Just as we're about to disappear down the corridor, a sharp voice call out my name. "Darren!"
