Thalia's pov
"What did you just call me?" I asked, my body trembling from the intensity of my son's voice against me.
Ianth looked unwavered. He was determined to cast me out from being his mother. He wanted another woman to take my position so effortlessly in his life.
I tried to console myself that he was just a kid who knew nothing.
He doesn't know who the real devil was because the same devil was pretending to be a good person by giving him sweet things to eat which will deteriorate his health.
But I was done.
I have tried making them see reasons. I have tried making them understand.
It should be Eirik’s job to send strangers away from our home. But he invited them in. In return, I became an evil person. I turned to the wicked human being amongst them.
Since Ianth doesn't want me as his mom anymore, I might gladly step back.
I rushed outside, down to my car and drove it out of.the hospital premises. The ride home was silent and choking.
The gates opened and I drove into the compound. Anna came to take my bag.
"Madam, how is your son doing now?" She asked, clearly not reading the room.
I struggled to nod. "He is fine." Without another extra word, I walked into the room.
No, not my matrimonial room. I went to the guest room. I dashed into the bathroom, soaking myself in the warm bath tub.
"I have told you several times that I don't want you to be my mommy anymore. I have another mom now." My eyes squeezed shut when I remembered Ianth's words.
The boy whose first word as a baby was 'mom'
The one who always listened to anything I said.
The kid who always insisted that I remained by his side whenever he was lonely.
It was that same grown boy that tossed his mother away like she was some ragged doll who had become useless.
Have I become so useless? Have I?
I watched how he held Mirelle's hands so dear like she was his lifeline. I hated how close she had drawn him to be towards her. She had taken control of my family and I couldn't do anything about it.
No, I can actually do something. Just like I did several minutes ago. I walked away from them. But can I really handle walking away totally from them?
I stood up from the bathtub and dried myself with a towel. I walked into the room, heading to the dressing table.
My gaze caught the round box lying on the roughly edged table. An emerald ring that matched an emerald dress from my wardrobe. That was the promise ring Eirik gave me when we started seeing each other.
My fists curled at my sides in anger and pain. Tears slipped down my closed eyes. What was I supposed to do now? I was very confused.
My body, soul and mind were broken.
I picked up my phone, torn at the decision on whether to call the number I haven't called in three years. Or should I continue to bear my cross and try to make my family mine again?
Confusion gnawed on my spirit.
I dialled the number and hung up again. The phone slipped out of my palms as I laid on the cold bed. It lacked warmth.
Gone were the days when I would snuggle into my husband's arms whenever I felt sad and lonely. But now, I have become the sad and lonely one in my home.
My heart remained heavy for long hours until I couldn't feel it again. Slowly, I became numb to it.
My tears had dried up. I stood up in front of the mirror stand. I had lost significant weight in just two months. My puffy eyes looked like I was beaten to pulp from a boxing ring. I looked too miserable to be called a married woman.
Taking care of my son when he was a baby wasn't this tedious. It didn't weigh on me like this. But anyway, each lesson was learnt.
The next day, I remained on the bed with no strength to move an inch. My phone beeped on the nightstand.
Eirik – Our son has been discharged. We went for a hangout. You don't need to wait for us.
Message delivered. I turned my phone upside down with no feeling at all. It was the third night of them being absent at home and they were not bothered about it. Why should I be the one bothered then?
Since they went for a hangout, I should waste my time looking like an old woman in a large mansion that could contain sixty people all at once.
I dressed up with a bit of make-up. I carried my bag and walked to the door.
"Madam." Anna called, stopping me on the way.
I turned towards her and she gasped in surprise. Yeah, she was surprised because it has been a long time since I wore any simple makeup.
"What is the matter, Anna?" I asked.
Anna recovered herself. "I don't know if the master and Young master will be having dinner tonight. What should I prepare?" She questioned.
It was crystal clear that my husband wouldn't be coming home. The home we both built was no longer a home for our family.
"Never mind. If they come home, you can prepare some snacks and if not, just enjoy your free night." I answered.
Anna was dumbstruck. I left her gawking at my outfit. It wasn't the regular sundresses or less revealing clothes.
My hands rested on the car knob. Shaky breaths escaped my lips. I knew I was giving up slowly. But well, time for a change.
I entered the car and drove off. The ride was beautiful. For the first time, I had the chance to gaze at the tall buildings, beautiful street lamps and fun filled streets. I didn't have such time before because everytime I drove my car, it was either to drop Eirik’s forgotten documents or rushing to drop Ianth off at his daycare.
It was around seven pm in the evening. The city was still buzzing. I opened the door to one of my favorite restaurants, inhaling the fragrance that came from within.
"Ma'am, what is your order preference?" A female attendant stood by my table.
I opened the menu and started checking through. As always, they have the best collection of food tastes. I picked some delicious treats and she marked it as my order.
I dropped my bag at the side of the table. A certain drag occurred right in front of me.
"We meet again, Thalia." A masculine voice uttered.
My eyes caught the familiar face. The man from the hotel.
