Chiara POV  Beeeeeeeep !!! I hit the alarm hard again, turning it off. I start to stretch and let my eyes open. The bright morning light enters the room. I get up from my soft comforter and go to the patio door, closing the curtains. I open the double doors and go up to my balcony facing the sea. The first waves broke and no one was in sight. I close my eyes, take a deep breath and enjoy the breeze and the smell of salt in the air.  I go in and start combing my hair into a ponytail before entering my closet. I wear tight shorts with a sports bra and sneakers. I decide to find my best friend to make sure he got home last night. Opening the door, my eyes see him lying like a cat on his bed. I smile and shake my head at the sight before closing the door and leaving the house. I close the door before going down to the beach. I relax in front of the water again before I start jogging. Hello, my name is Chiara Jones. I am 23 years old and I am a professor assigned to Umbrella Academy. I was recently hired there after leaving my family and business in Mexico. I have long brown hair that reaches my waist with emerald green eyes. I was praised for my appearance, but I don't pay much attention to it. Everyone is beautiful. They are all beautiful in their own way. I currently live with my best friend Chad for a long time. He is currently a bartender at one of the city's nightclubs. We worked together last summer, but now that I'm going to teach, I recently stopped. I live in California with her for about 4 months and I became a w***e for the beach. I really like it here! Constant hot climate and endless nightlife. You will never be bored. "Really, so early in the morning Chi?" My best friend groans when he enters the kitchen. I laughed before giving him a cup of coffee.  "How was your night?" I asked, nodding and putting sugar in the coffee for him as he sat on the bar stool. "Looonnnnggggg". He said with a sigh before taking a sip of coffee. "At least the money is good." he gives me a shy smile that I just came back from. "How do you find the energy to get up before the sun every morning just to run?" He purses his lips in disgust and scrunches his pretty button nose as he thinks about training. "We all couldn't be blessed with a body like yours Chad." I said, rolling my eyes. He starts to laugh hysterically. "b***h, please ... you don't have to run and you always look A-MAZE balls." He insists, making me shake my head at his antics. "Whatever you say, loser." Chad is an incredible free spirit. He's outgoing and took me out of my shell. He is very pleasing to the eye and that is just a plus waking up to the sight of his beautifully sculptured chest every morning and I would be lost without him. We met when I was only 6 years old and his father was an ambassador so they had to do a lot of relocating but we kept in touch even after he had to move. He lost his father about two years ago and his mother could no longer stay in the house that reminded her so much of her dead husband, so he invited me to live with him, which I did with pleasure, given my situation. "So I have to work tonight, do you want to come?" He asked looking at me, "You know the team would like to see you again." "Yes, I think it would be fun." I smile when I think of all the amazing people I met working there. The club was called Six-pack. It has been in business for many years and is a favorite with locals. "Great!" Chad shouts. He comes up to me and kisses me on the cheek. "Alright Goldie, this hunk needs a shower." He says dramatically as he lifts his butt in the air and sways his hips exaggeratedly out of the kitchen, making me roll my eyes in his wake and laugh hysterically. He is certainly unique. "Welcome back Goldie!" The club manager said with open arms. I run to him and hug him tightly. He squeezes me. "Do you still miss us?" "You know I love this place!" I say with a big smile. "Well, why should you be an angel and help behind the bar tonight!" He says giving me his best puppy dog eyes. My eyes open wide at his request and my mouth opens and closes like a fish. I didn’t want to deny him. "Oh, come on Chiara! I'm desperate. May called and said she got sick and I can't put Chad back here because he's running on the floor today." He begs me. I smiled at him and put my hands on my hips with a corked eyebrow. He put his hands together pleadingly. I rolled my eyes and sighed in resignation. He raises his hands knowing he just won. "You owe me Nick!" I scream after he retreats back to his office. I look at Chad, who smiles like an i***t. I conjure up my most unpleasant look and throw it his way and he just starts laughing it off. "Thanks for the help, i***t!" I yell at him "You're welcome." He said over his shoulder, smiling. I go to the closets and wear short black shorts and a plain black T-shirt. I don't bother to put my hair back in place and let my brown locks fall down my back. I sigh before going to the bar. And here we go. The night is going very well. I have Brian behind the counter with me and the crowd is a good size tonight. Chad and Alisha run the floor with Nick putting everything away. I poured the drinks and only a few guys were overly flirty and a bit too chatty, but Brian helped keep them in line. The night was almost over when Nick decided to surprise me. "Ok guys, we have a gift for you tonight! Our own Goldie is back again to sing for us tonight. I look at him and start to shake my head. Chad approaches me and starts pulling my arm towards the stage. "Stop Chad! I don't want to ... "I can't even finish before he shoves me onto the stage and sticks his tongue out at me. I look at Nick, who has an amused smile. "Here she is, please welcome Goldie!" I am announced as if I were a celebrity. I give him a mean glare one last time before he leaves the stage. I address the crowd that looks at me interested in seeing the performance. "Hi guys! Sorry, I didn't know I was going to sing tonight, but I will sing one of my favorites," I said before taking a deep breath and closing my eyes. Lady Antebellum starts playing. I closed my eyes and started singing the song. I let the lyrics flow from my tongue and just enjoyed the music. Had a feelin’ I was feelin’ alright But it just happened to be Saturday night  I put on my lipstick, a little too bright So I took a deep breath And I started to drive I opened my eyes and instantly found Chad smiling encouragingly at me. I started to rock and release all my feelings in the music. I continued to sing, but my eyes fell on a pair of piercing blue eyes and I couldn't look away. I kept eye contact with the stranger and I continue to sing the song.  They’d  let me in without a cover charge  Found my way to the back of the bar  Peeled the corners of a cocktail napkin.  Watchin’ everybody smilin’ laughin’ I look away from the stranger and over at Nick, who returns to the stage as soon as I finish. I lean over and hand him the microphone while he smiles at me proudly. "We applaud our little Goldie again!" He says and starts clapping while everyone claps louder. I bow my head and make a little wave and climb down the stage. Chad comes over and hugs me while I feel a lot of eyes on my back. I look at where the stranger was stood before, but I don't see him there anymore. I shrug and decide that maybe it was all in my head. I return behind the bar, where Brian hugs me. The night ends. Chad and I ended up leaving early and returning home early, because Nick was grateful for my help. As soon as we get home, I throw myself on my soft bed and curl up into my blankets. I immerse myself  into a deep sleep and wonder what awaits me at my new job next week, but I could barely do it with a pair of piercing ocean blue eyes hidden in the back of my mind. It couldn't be all in my head, right? Gavin's POV Beep beep beep !! I get out of bed and hear the alarm. I run my fingers over my eyes and lie on the bed, looking away. There's a woman here from last night, but I don't remember her name. Her blond hair is flattened on the pillow and she’s lying face down. She didn't do anything for me last night. It was just convenient but she barely scratched the itch I could feel within me. I leave her there, and get out of the bed and wear some comfortable pants. I leave my room and go to my home office. I have a very big house, which comes with my wealthy. I like being comfortable. "Sir, I'm sorry for interrupting you, but your son doesn't want to eat his breakfast." My maid Beth says as she enters my office after telling her to enter. "I will take care of him, you will go and take care of the woman who is still in my room."  “Immediately, sir.” She nods and turns around to walk out of my office.I stop her and instruct her on what I would like to have for lunch so she doesn’t interrupt me again later. My maid and house boy/driver knows my methods and doesn't ask questions. Beth and Stefan are the only ones I speak to directly aside from my son of course. As long as I can remember, they've been working with me. I leave my office and knock before entering my son's room. My son Ryan is sitting by the window and looking out. He is 6 years old with dark hair and blue eyes just like the ocean which is something he got from his dad. He is very reserved and closed off, showing very little to no emotion, another thing he got from me but I wish he hadn’t. I mean he is only a little kid. His mother left him before he could even walk or talk to run off with some rich old man that she claimed to be the love of her life. I still can't believe a woman can be capable of leaving her own child. What kind of mother can do that? I’m closed off and cold because of my past and I believe love does not exist, at least not for people like me. I look at my son and my heart breaks for him. He doesn’t deserve what his mother did to him. "Ryan ..." I sigh as I start walking towards him. "Why don't you want to eat?" He looks at me and shrugs his little shoulders and goes back to looking out the window again. I sit next to him and look out the window too. He's looking at the ocean waves. I wanted to continue when my cell phone broke the silence and started to ring. I get up quickly and answer it. "Jones". I say without taking a look at the caller ID. "Hey, man, we are making a trade deal tonight, so don’t make any other plans because we have to attend a meeting." Cole's voice flashed on my phone. “What business?”  I ask in my most serious business voice. "The deal with the Chinese investor has increased. See you tonight at six pack around 8 to talk it over.” “I’ll be ready.” I hang up the phone without saying goodbye. I turn to around to Ryan only to see that he is no longer there anymore. Greatest  father moment that was, wasn’t it? I deserve an award for father of the year. I sigh and decide to talk to him later. I go back to my office and start checking my emails, reading some business suggestions. Beth brings my lunch to my office and I nodded gratefully.   ************* “Time to go to the meeting man.” Cole says as he storms into my office. I look at my best friend. “The door was closed for some reason.” I say monotonously. He dismisses my reprimand with his hand. Only he can get away with something like that. "Whatever, we have to go." He sits on one of the chairs in my office and leans his dirty shoes over my desk. I'm starting to grind my teeth and glare at him, which in turn only makes him smile: "Don't look at me like that, you know, it doesn't affect me". “Lift your feet off my table.” I get up slowly. He watches as he lifts his legs and puts them back on the floor. “Come on, we have to go. Where's my little nephew?” He says he gets up and dusts off his suit. We both walked from my office to the door.  "I think he's playing with Stefan." I go to get ready while I watch Cole walk towards Ryan's room. I decide to wear a nice Armani suit. I go back to my son's room to see him doing a puzzle with Cole. Cole tries to get him to speak, but I can see that he is not in a good mood. "Ryan we have to go out tonight, make sure you're listening to Beth and Stefan." I go to my son to kiss his forehead. “Good night dad!” He says without even looking up  as he focuses on his puzzles. Cole and I go out and go to the club. When we arrived, we go up and went to the VIP area. When we sit down, a waitress arrives who takes our drink orders. She is trying to lean over to show off her overflowing cleavage a bit too much. I know she’s flirting with me for my money. Every woman is greedy, just to get it over with. That's why I use them for my convenience and throw them away. I look, I see Cole getting distracted and enjoying the view. He rolls his eyes as he blinks at the waiter and starts laughing. "I'm going to the bar, I'll be back in a minute." I say as I looked over at the bar. I'm halfway there when I see someone going on stage. "Everyone we have a gift for you tonight! Our Goldie is going to be singing again for us tonight.” I stop for a moment, everyone's attention is also on the man. "Everyone I present to you our very own Goldie!" He introduces as a tall, long brown haired woman appears on the stage. Whoa! Everything I think about in my dreams. She has beautiful curves, not too thin and she has a sporty body. Her long brown curls fall to her waist and she looks hot as hell. She turns to the crowd and I see the most amazing, beautiful  eyes I have ever seen. Damn it ... "Greetings to everyone, sorry, I didn't know I was going to sing tonight, but I'm going to sing one of my favorites." She says as she tries to put the nerves together. She closes her eyes and starts singing the song with an angel like voice and it gets me excited. She is very short for my tall frame but would just be prefect, and I cannot deny that she is beautiful and her voice is just the icing on the cake. Had a feelin’ I was feelin’ alright  But it just happened to be Saturday night. I put on my lipstick, a little too bright So I took a deep breath And I started to drive She opens her eyes and locks them with mine. I see so many feelings and emotions in them, but all I can do is keep listening and looking at their charm. She keeps singing. We continued to look at each other as if there were only two of us in the room.  They’d let me in without a cover charge  I found my way to the back of the bar Peeled the corners of a cocktail napkin Watchin’ everybody smilin’, laughin’ She continues to sing and finishes, and when the applause begins, she finally breaks our intense gaze. I go to the bar for a beer, while the waitress still flirts with Cole. I look at the stage and catch the owner embrace the beauty. I turn towards the entrance when I see Chinese investors enter. During the meeting, I look at the bar where I see her working. Truly an incredible sight. What the hell am I thinking? She's just a woman. I shake my head and try to focus on the meeting. When the meeting is over, I decide to go to the bar to introduce myself. I mean, it wouldn't hurt to have her in my bed just for one night. I approach the man I see behind the bar now, but I don't see her in sight.  "Hi man, how can I help you?" The bartender behind the bar shouts over at me so I could hear him over the music. "Where's the girl I saw here before?" I ask as I lean over a little to hear better. “Sorry, she’s gone.”  Well, s**t, that plan failed. He continues to wipe the glass while I stand there for a minute, lost in my thoughts. Cole reaches out and slaps me on the shoulder, letting me know he's ready to head on home. I wave and get up from the bar, still lost in my thoughts envisioning a dark-haired woman in particular that I knew would be haunting my dreams.
