Mira's POV I found Elias in the stables, which felt safer somehow than tracking him down anywhere inside the pack house, where walls apparently had a habit of listening and repeating things back to the wrong people at the worst possible moments. He was brushing down one of the horses, sleeves rolled up, humming something tuneless under his breath, and he looked up the moment I stepped through the wide doorway, grinning before I'd even said a word. "You look like someone plotting a crime." "I'm not plotting anything." "You're doing the thing with your eyebrows. The one that means you're about to ask a question you already suspect you won't like the answer to." I hated that he'd already learned that about me, mostly because it meant he was right, and I hadn't even opened my mouth yet.
