Chapter Nine:

I was sweating. Without being able to fly, I'd had to climb the mountains, and its toll was too much for me. Even the feather light weight of my bags had slowed my down. I'd decided to ditch them. They were hidden high up, in the branches of an old, dying oak tree. The letter from my dad had been thrust into my jean pocket. The necklace and key was wound tight around my neck. The map, well, I had no use for that anymore, so I had left it in the bags. I held the Nixie jar in my two hands, and I pushed myself further up the mountain. The wind whipped my ash brown hair backwards, and tears were being pulled from my eyes.
