Curly Close EncountersKit yawned and rubbed her eyes. Black streaks of mascara dotted the back of her hand. It took until midnight to fix Gabby’s hair, and she’d crawled out of bed four hours later to open the shop. Mr Rashid leaned across and dragged her arm away from her face. He shook his head and tutted at the makeup on her hand. “No wages for you this week,” he announced. “What?” Kit gasped. “Why?” Her lower lip turned down in dismay. Mr Rashid shook his head. “I don’t employ animals.” He waved his brown hand at her. “You are a panda face.” Kit groaned. “Let me go to the bathroom and wash it.” Mr Rashid looked at his watch and grinned. “Two minutes. Downstairs bathroom.” “No way!” Kit stamped her foot. “You just want me stuck in there so you can dock my wages.” Mr Rashid feigne
