Orion's POV
I clench the sheets in my hands as I try not to lunge for his jugular as my father walks into the room with a smug smile on his face. He looks to everyone in the room and his eyes pause briefly on Rosalie which doesn't do too well for the rage building up inside me.
"My my my, the three who saved our people are all here for a pow wow. I feel like I'm intruding" my father snarks and I hear
Rosalie's father growls softly while the other alpha standing at the tail of my bed, pulled the pretty white haired woman standing next to him under his arm. Neither looked intimidated by my father's words but I knew he was baiting them. I remember my father was a crazed maniac when news about the three chosen wolves blessed by the goddess with gems of unimaginable power circulated amongst the packs. He gathered information on all three of them and had people watching them all the time after they battled Jacob Blaine at the academy.
When nothing spectacular was reported back to him after the battle, he lost interest. Or so I thought. Before leaving the pack I came upon a thick folder in my father's office. The file folder contained pictures of the three chosen and more importantly, there was extensive research done on each of their gems. Looking up at Rosalie's father and then the couple on my left, neither had on clothing to reveal if there were necklaces around their necks. I glance towards my father and I see him doing exactly as I was. His eyes lock in with mines and his mouth twitches at the corner as though he was holding back saying something to me. His gaze drops from my face to my chest and I feel my heart still as I have to control the urge to cover my already hidden necklace from him. His eyes lift to watch me conspicuously again before turning to alpha Reed with a whistful look on his face.
"I apologize for storming your umm gathering here alpha, but I wanted to know if Orion was awake" he turns to sneer at me and a sarcastic chuckle could be heard from beside me. I look up to see Rosalie glaring at my father who chose to ignore her.
"Rosa" Rosalie's mother warns her before turning her attention to my father.
"Orion's doctor wants to run a few tests to make sure he's completely okay before he releases him." Rosalie's mother says politely while alpha Reed and Rosalie continue to glare from their respective positions in the room.
"He looks perfectly fine to me. Don't allow him to take advantage of your hospitality. Make no mistake, I did not come here out of concern for him but out of concern you and your staff Luna" my father once again turns to the people in the room while pointing an accusing finger at me.
"He is taking advantage of all of you. Do not pity him. He does not deserve it after everything he has done!" he says, his voice raising a fraction.
Suddenly Rosalie walks around my bed and plants herself in the path of that accusing finger. She walks up, places her hand on my father's hand and proceeds to push his hand down while never breaking eye contact with him.
"You do not come onto our pack lands and make accusations like that. You show some respect when you are a guest here" Rosalie's words are clear and concise. She stands her ground while her mother and father look on with pride in their eyes. My father on the other hand bristles with rage. He opens his mouth to say something but his beta Davis steps up behind him to rest a hand on his shoulder. He exhales sharply before turning to Rosalie's parents.
"Very well. I trust everyone received the invitation to the memorial. It's something I held every year since my dear Elianna's death" he turns to shoot me a smug smile knowing I knew nothing about it.
"Elianna's parents will be attending as it will be the last one to be held. Her ashes will be taken by them to be spread on her homeland. Thus the reason for it being held with such grandeur this year. I trust you all will be in attendance?" my father gazes around the room but no one responds. He turns to leave but stops and turns towards me again.
"You should know that you are to not step foot on Blue Moon territory. You will pay a hefty price if I even smell you anywhere near that memorial. Do I make myself clear?" his eyes bore into mine as I continued to grip the sheets on the bed.
"Crystal" I respond and he nods before turning to leave again.
"Although your commands don't necessarily hold any importance to me. I did recind my link to the pack when you ordered me to leave all those years ago" I say to him, not giving a damn about his threats.
His eyes glow and his body vibrates as the rage ignited by my words springs forth. Rosalie's parents step next to her to block my father as the other couple I correctly assumed to be alpha Luca and his Luna Eliza step forward to complete the bodily barrier between me and my father.
"You snarky little runt! I'll have your head on a pike!" my father growls as alpha Reed and alpha Luca take a step forward, readying themselves for his shift. I couldn't see anything now and I craned my neck to look between everyone to see what was happening when the most annoying voice in the world fills the air.
"That's enough Salazar! He is not worth it!" Savannah's voice booms from the distance and I push off the bed to stand beside it as the overpowering scent of her perfume begins to choke the entire room. Several people cough and sneeze as she steps beside my father to place a hand on his cheek. His eyes stop glowing and return to their normal state as Savannah turns to everyone with her cat-like smile.
"I apologize on behalf of my MATE!" she stresses the last word as she glares in my direction and I feel my chest begin to ache with my rapidly beating heart. I rip the IV tube out of my hand and stride across with room in three large strides. My right hand grips her throat and she hackles while I squeeze with all my strength I had in me.
A hand grips my hand tightly and yanks it off her and I'm shoved to the floor. My father gently caresses Savannah's slightly bruised throat before looking down at me fiercely.
"You dare out your hands on my mate?! I'll have your head!" he growls as he reaches down to grab the front of my medical gown. He lifts me to my feet just as a blade is pointed at his throat. We both look over as Rosalie steps up between us.
"Let him go. I already warned you once about your behavior here" Rosalie intones and I look behind her to see that her parents were not the least but phased by her actions. Alpha Reed looked smug while her mother kept her gaze sharp and alert.
"Don't spill blood on these clean floors Rosalie. The cleaning staff already left for the evening" her father speaks up while her mother jabs him in the ribs. A soft chuckle comes from beside us and I glance to my left to see alpha Luca and his Luna equally entertained.
My father loosens his grip while staring me down. His gaze flickers to where he held my gown and the moment his eyes glaze over I know he saw it. I shove him away from me and adjust the medical gown, feeling the necklace jostle against my skin. Savannah growls at me while nodding for Davis to take my father out the room. My father's eyes kept wavering from my chest to my eyes and his mouth pulls up in a devilish grin as Davis leads him out the room.
"We'll see ourselves out" Savannah says before turning and leaving the room as well. My hand reaches up to clutch the necklace as I take a few calming deep breaths. I jerk when a warm hand touches my other arm and my head snaps up to meet with Rosalie's beautiful red ones.
"Beautiful" the word leaves my mouth before I could stop it and alpha Reed immediately plants his body between us.
"Dad!"
"Reed!"
"You're screwed bro"
"Luca!"
A chuckle rumbles from my chest and all eyes are on me again. Rosalie is smiling along with her mother while alpha Reed looks like he's about to pop a vein. I turn to sit on my bed as alpha Luca and his Luna approach me for the first time.
"I'm Luca Pierce, alpha of Crystal Lakes pack and this is my Luna Eliza. We are grateful for what you did for our family during that rogue attack and Magnus Blaine" he extends a hand to me which I accept and shake.
"I'm not sure how grateful you should be to me. I called them family not long ago" I say softly and I jump when a small warm hand drops on top of our clasped ones. I look up to see Luna Eliza smiling down at me. I instantly feel like all my regret and shame washes away as she continues to smile at me.
"Holy crap, what was that?" I ask and she chuckles to me while taking back her hand.
"My wolf gained a little special something after the battle. She can calm any flustered heart. The heart can only beat true and pure when there's no shadow of doubt there. Not that I think you doubt what it's been trying to tell you" Luna Eliza winks at me earning me a growl of warning from alpha Luca. She turns to cup his face and he instantly relaxes.
"Nobody's asking him about his heart messages here. He can keep those to himself. I'd like to know when he's fit for travel so I can help him with his bags." alpha Reed says, annoyance lacing his words.
"I didn't have any" I say under my breath and he leans in close to glare at me.
"What'd you say kid?" his nostrils flare as he looks at me at eye level, his hunched posture looking a bit uncomfortable.
"I said I didn't have bags. The only baggage I got is the fact that my pack thinks I killed my mother and I have no wolf so my dear old dad disowned me. Not that I care because his b***h for a Luna was going to find a way to get rid of me so her pea brained son can be alpha" my chest rises and falls as I take a few deep breaths with what I just said. Alpha Reed draws back a bit an looks at me as though seeing e for the first time for real this time.
"Look kid, I get it. I've been there. But you can't stay here. Magnus Blaine is a man I do not want anywhere near my family. His son already took alot from us. And your father...."
"My father will be in your orbit whether I'm here or not. He's been interested in you and your family even before I became his least favorite person."
Alpha Reed and everyone else looks at me quizzically until I tell them everything I know my father had on them. Alpha Luca growls his disgust while Luna Eliza looked slightly worried.
"He's wasting his time The gems left us the day everything ended. They served the purpose the goddess gave them to us for and the family heirlooms became history for our families." Alpha Luca says while Luna Eliza and alpha Reed nod in agreement.
"There is something I need to ask you Orion" Rosalie's mother says to me and I nod for her to continue.
"I felt the aura of fae magic everytime your father was in the same room with us. I originally thought it was being manifested from you but I felt it when he was alone with us at the house." I frown as her words sink in and shake my head. Reaching into my medical gown, I remove the necklace and hold it out for everyone to see.
"This necklace was my mother's. She gave this to me when I was younger. She said it was very important to her family and she was giving it to me. She never mentioned giving anything to my father" Rosalie's mother nods while the room falls silent.
"Brace yourselves" alpha Luca suddenly says seconds before the door to my room opens and my self proclaimed champion walks in with a bright smile. Gigi suddenly covers her eyes while peeping through her fingers.
"Is he decent? I lost count how many times this guy flashed me" Gigi says through giggles while her father and alpha Reed groan in unison.
"You're safe" Rosalie says while swatting at Gigi's hands on her face. Gigi beams while looking at me and she winks before turning to the adults.
"I come bearing news. The council elders are here. Apparently alpha Salazar was being a good citizen and told them you're harbouring a 'rogue accused of murder' on your territory"
Gigi and Rosalie walk over to my bedside while the adults talk amongst themselves before turning to us again.
"We'll deal with this. Rosa, you and Gigi stay here until the doctor comes to get him for his tests" Rosalie nods and they all exit the room. Gigi flops on the edge of the bed and looks between us while wagging her eyebrows.
"Soooo...it's just me and the two lovebirds huh?" Gigi declares as Rosalie groans beside me and I turn my head just in time to see her trying to cover her flaming cheeks.
"She rushed second base, does that mean we're exclusive?" I say with a sideways grin and Gigi bursts out in hysterical laughter as Rosalie looks at me in horror.
I knew I liked Gigi for a reason. And she was proving me right already.
