“Can I touch you?” she asks.
“Yes,” the wolf breathes.
“Will it hurt?”
“Maybe?”
And maybe it will hurt, but right now, she is definitely hurting, and Sebastian decides that a definitely right now is worse than a maybe later. So as gently as he can, he picks the omega back up and steps out into the water.
The Hunter’s Moon above them lights their way in the darkness. Its white light spills over the black water as Sebastian walks until they are out beyond the five paces of the shallow waters, out far enough that the cold water will cover every part of Aurora’s burning skin.
“Alpha,” Aurora grips tighter to his neck as the water finally hits her back.
“It’s okay, pup,” he soothes. “I’m not going to let you go.”
