Ria's POV.
The sound of liquid gurgling could be heard as Matthew poured everyone a glass of champagne, and after he had done that, he reclined on his chair. However, his face still held that hard and shadowy look which made it evident that he wasn't really comfortable with whatever was going on. On the other hand, I just needed to be careful about my intake of the substance so as not to make a mess of myself like I did the last time which I ended up with making out with a total stranger. But, with him beside me, I was rest assured that he wouldn't allow it to come to that.
“To what?” — Anna's mother asked, lifting her wineglass midair.
I guess she expected us to say a thing, perhaps a wish as we also lifted out wineglasses.
