Just as I guessed, the latter happened to be the case. The other contestants had arrived before us and that just seals our fate — we'd lost and would exit the competition. Coming out from nowhere in particular, or perhaps I didn't really pay attention enough to details to have known that there was a room there, the other contestants began to come out one after the other. As I watched them do so, my heart seemed to plummet into my stomach. But their victory was less of a concern to me. If anything, I was worried about Anna and how she would be feeling knowing that all hopes to get her dreams have just been dashed.
