As the words broke from his lips, I felt a sudden coldness that hits at the core. I wasn't expecting that. In fact, the least thing I was expecting was for him to know Carlos. How was it even possible? I mean, he was just a stranger who could have been walking by in the middle of the night and by chance gained entrance into Matthew's apartment, so where's the truth in what he's just said? On the one hand, I would have loved to think that he was lying but on the other hand, for him to have known Carlos, then he wasn't lying. Besides, he would know better than to lie with Carlos's name.
