"A heart can change in the blink of an eye?" Kyran whispered the words, a heavy feeling of frustration settling in his chest.
He closed his hands into fists and dialed Elestria's number, needing to know exactly what she meant.
"The number you have dialed is switched off. Please try again later," the cold, robotic voice said, making anger rise inside him.
At that moment, Kyran was furious.
"Fine! Just fine!" He blocked her number without a second thought. First, he took care of his work. Then he replied to his mother.
Kyran: Mom, stop trying to set me up with other women. I am not interested.
After that, he opened his messages with Zyrelle. There were her lovely photos and her soft, sweet voice messages.
"Good morning, Kyran. Did you sleep well? Is your stomach still hurting? I have prepared a gentle soup for your stomach at the office. Please come early. I am waiting for you."
Listening to her caring, gentle voice, Kyran felt a sense of satisfaction. He typed a message.
Kyran: Get ready for tonight's auction gala. You will be coming with me.
Elestria's birthday was February 14th, Valentine's Day. Kyran had planned to bid on a precious royal brooch as a gift for her thirtieth birthday.
Now, it no longer seemed important.

The auction was held at the Ritz-Carlton. Zyrelle wore a green dress that made her look sweet and beautiful. She walked behind him as they stepped into the private elevator.
Ding! The elevator reached the top floor. The doors opened to a sea of flashing cameras from news reporters. The sound of cameras clicking and voices praising them filled the air.
"Look at them! You look perfect together, like a match made in heaven!"
"She looks so young and beautiful, like a girl of seventeen or eighteen!"
Zyrelle's smile grew wider.
But then one reporter standing near the front spoke up, "Wait? That is not Mrs. Valtor, is it? Mrs. Valtor does not wear green. The real wife is Elestria, the famous actress who won every major award by the time she was sixteen. She is far more beautiful!"
Zyrelle's smile froze completely.
Kyran gave the reporters a cold look, and they fell silent immediately, afraid to speak further. As he walked into the auction hall, he told his assistant, "That reporter is not fit for this job."
Kian nodded. "Understood."
The auction began. But Kyran's mind was somewhere else. The reporter's words kept repeating in his mind. "Mrs. Valtor does not wear green."
And at that moment, everything became clear.
Kyran finally remembered. That beautiful dress he had given her on New Year's Eve, it had been green, too. Only then did he recall something Elestria had once said to him.
"Kyran, if you ever stop loving me, do not say a word. Just send me a green dress, and I will understand."
Kyran's chest tightened with a sudden, sharp pain. He could not explain the feeling, but the room suddenly felt too small and hard to breathe in. He told Kian to buy the royal brooch, and then he walked out quickly.
Zyrelle hurried after him. "Kyran, what is wrong?"
He lit a cigarette, then finally looked at her. "Go change your dress."
Her face turned pale as the reporter's words echoed in her mind, about how Mrs. Valtor does not wear green, and so she forced a weak smile and answered, "Very well, Kyran," before turning away to change.
Just then, his phone rang loudly. He picked it up. It was Genevieve.
Her voice was filled with worry. "Kyran, I have looked everywhere. Since she left, there is no record of her leaving the country, no hotel records, and no payments made with her cards. Could something truly have happened to her?"
