Giselle took Derek through many passageways that were rarely used. These were basically tunnels used to transfer prisoners away from the general population, so they didn't have to drag them through the house. They didn't want to chance a prisoner hurting someone. The tunnels were stone walled and dark. In the past, there would be torches light along the wall, which were still in place. However, the pair didn't light any. It was far better to sneak through the dark than risk getting caught. The tunnels led them far out into the woods. Waiting there for them were a few of Pierce's men, and they took Derek while Giselle returned unseen back to the castle through the tunnels.
