Heartbroken

Once they arrived at the hospital and were taken to Labor and Delivery, Savanna called the family to tell them the news. Lawson and Catherine rushed to the hospital to support their daughter throughout the horrible time.

After the induction Savanna labored for 15 hours and finally delivered a baby boy who looked just like Mitchell. The doctor said that they could spend time with the baby while the hospital ran a few test.

After about an hour with the baby, Savanna and Mitchell named him David Noah Gardner, they were able to get some photos with them holding him through the tears, got a certificate with his feet and hand prints. David was 11 inches long and weighed 14.6 ounces. The doctor told Savanna and Mitchell that David had Trisomy 13 after blood work was done and that is what caused the late miscarriage.

Mitchell had a mental breakdown after losing David. He went to the funeral home with David's body and cried throughout the paperwork to bury him. After the paperwork was completed he said goodbye and went to go be with Savanna. After eating dinner together, Mitchell left. A friend called Savanna and told her that Mitchell was on the lawn of the funeral home screaming 'I want my baby' over and over. Savanna called her Lawson to go get Mitchell.

A few days later Savanna and Mitchell had a service for David. After his tiny body was placed beside Mitchell's grandparents, the family went to leave. Shortly after Savanna noticed Mitchell was not at her parent's house. Calling around, she was still unable to find him. After midnight Savanna got a call from the Sheriff Department; they had Mitchell at the hospital.

Mitchell had been found at the grave site screaming. He was intoxicated, the hospital said he had alcohol, multiple doses of anxiety medications, and pain medication. The doctor recommended a treatment plan for Mitchell, but he refused to go. Over the next month Mitchell lost his job, got several traffic tickets for driving intoxicated and broke up with Savanna, saying that he could see David everytime he looked at her and he couldn't handle the daily heartbreak.
