Chapter 19
“I’m coming”! I reassured him and turned from the car. After ten simple steps, I rushed off. The whole world merged into one stream of cold wind, whipping me in the face. The ground beneath my feet became soft, like clouds, and the busy human figures almost did not differ from the fixed pillars of traffic lights. Behind me came a sharp and puzzled male cry, and already two pairs of sturdy feet were pattering along the wide sidewalk. Like a crash of thunder, they approached me with a menacing sound. Bald shouted after me, gasping out the remnants of air in his lungs in short words.
“It will be worse for you! I warn you! Stop! b***h”! His final word came out with a desperate roar. What would happen if they caught me? What would happen if I escaped?
