Chapter 11: StormThe pea-sized hail stopped after about twenty minutes, but rain still poured. Ash had never been caught in a storm like this before. Dayna and Kevin seemed to be comforting each other. Ash felt isolated, even though she lay less than a foot away. Thunder boomed.
Kevin turned towards her. “Is the worst part over?”
Ash nodded. She really had no idea, but they’d been under the tree for two hours, and the storm couldn’t last forever. Kevin seemed to think she had the answers for everything. Ash was soaked, cold, and hungry. She wanted her brother. She wanted her mom and dad.
She hated just lying on the ground, helpless. And despite the rain, she was thirsty. There had to be something she could do to make the best out of this situation, but what?
