The Crossroads Program

249 Words
Ellen approached Laura, her expression one of understanding and empathy. "Laura, I understand where you're coming from," she began softly. "It's not just about what happened last year. You have a deep-rooted concern for those who are genuinely struggling or have justifiable motives, and you can't bear to see them fall victim to an imperfect system." Nodding in agreement, Laura replied, "Exactly, Ellen. I've witnessed firsthand the devastation caused when individuals, driven by circumstances beyond their control, commit heinous acts and end up paying the ultimate price. Mick's reluctance to entertain the possibility of rectifying this flaw only adds to the frustration." Her voice tinged with emotion, Laura made it clear that her commitment to the Crossroads Program extended beyond mere professional ambition—it was a personal mission to seek justice and redemption for the marginalized and misunderstood. "Now if you'll excuse me," she said, "I've got a crew of kids I need to supervise and train". Laura walks into a room with four teenagers awaiting directions. "Miss Bennett, while your request to use the serum was denied', one girl stated we do have something to show you," she admitted. The young girl, Dina Van Cleave , guides her to a space that even the higher ups don't know about; a room with a message board and a handmade sign that reads "Crossroads". Touched by her team's gesture, Laura gets set to start the first official mission of Project Crossroads with new confidence in herself and her project.
