Laura steps into the courtroom apalled at witnessing Mick Miller play the joker in his full deck, Mick looks on with his trademark sly look in his eyes ready to see the woman whose constantly been a thorn in his side take the fall under oath no less. Taking the stand for the first time since the manslaugther charge that put a dent in her cereer a year prior Laura was determined not to let history repeat itself and not to see another child's future be left to ruin. Laura gives her testimony stating that during the process of the Crossroads program Charley Jefferies had'nt hurt a fly much less any of the kids she had within 100 yards of the poor kid, Even with his personality disorder he seemed completely harmless and capable of expressing himself and while in need of therapy Charley is no hardened criminal but a amazing young man, One she would love to see back in society once his therapy has come to an end. Moved by Laura's honesty and remembering what happened to youn Nicole Stone the year before the jury is sentenced to the court chambers to take all that's happened in the trial under consideration and come to a mutually acceptable agreement. Laura steps down from the witness bench with a sense of pride in her eyes, Pride that quickly shifts to shock when she notices an all to familier face stand next to the courtroom entry door as the jury clears the room. She was Nicole Stone, The same girl that Laura failed to save from the broken system a year prior. Noticing her presence Laura slowly approaches happy to see her back in society but worried about how the talk will go.
